Brain Candy Live! Review

We sent my 15 year old nephew and a couple of lucky prize winners off to see @braincandylive last night at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. He said it was “really good” and he “really enjoyed the whole show” which is like 6 whole words from a 15 year old boy who normally just grunts so it must have been good!

This lucky audience member got to go up on stage with Adam!

Adam Savage (the Mythbusters guy) and Michael Stevens (that YouTube guy VSauce) have joined forces to bring this one of a kind interactive, hands-on, minds-on theatrical experience to Australia. The show was full of crazy toys, tools and demonstrations that kept the crowd entertained for the whole 90 minute show.

The show is great for all ages (but started at 7:30pm which probably rules the younger ones out) and was all about the Science of Air. Adam and Michael explained basic physics concepts using dry ice, ping-pong ball machine guns, and vacuum-tube cannons. The whole show was exciting, loud and FUN!

They like to call it an interactive, hands-on, minds-on theatrical experience……which is EXACTLY what it is.

Zeke (8) was one of our competition winners and said his favourite part of the show was “……when Adam used a leaf blower to blow the toilet paper onto Michael, he was like a Mummy”

There was crowd participation, jokes, experiments, music, laughs. Blake described it as half music concert, half science experiment.

It comes highly recommended so if you’re in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane this week and looking for something exciting to do with the kids visit

Let’s hope they come back to Adelaide soon!

Zeke’s Mum said……..My son absolutely loved it!! It made one little boy a very happy!!

  • We skipped our way down the yellow brick road last night all the way to The Adelaide Festival Centre to see The Wizard of Oz! This updated version of the absolute classic stars Anthony Warlow, WICKED’s leading ladies Lucy Durack (Glinda) and Jemma Rix (Wicked Witch of the West) and Samantha Dodemaide as Dorothy. Jemma Rix as the Wicked Witch of the West was a standout for us, especially my daughter who thought her cackle was hilarious. We also loved John Xintavelonis as the lion, Alex Rathgeber as the Tin Man and Eli Cooper was very funny as Scarecrow. Even though all of the performances were great, it was a little dog called Toto who stole the show getting a great reaction every time he made an appearance. The set is fantastic and the costumes even more so. Glinda's dress especially. And all of your favourite Wizard of Oz songs are in there. Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Ding Dong, We're Off To See The Wizard. We were whistling the whole way home! So is it good for kids? I took my 5 year old to the 7:30pm session and being a 2.5 hour show including 20 minute interval she was…
