Cafe Rimini, Hallett Cove

Cafe, Family Friendly Eats, South | 0 comments

One of our biggest gripes when we take the clan out for a kids meal, is when they get dished up about 3 nuggets and 7 chips as part of the ‘kids meal’, which usually results in someone’s meal (mine) being pilfered by tiny hands. Thankfully for those down south and anyone looking for a nice drive down south along the coast, we found a place which served massive kids meals for our hungry little mouths that didn’t cost the Earth.

Cafe Rimini, located in the Hallett Cove Shopping Centre (if you remember locations due to the nearest Maccas like I do, it is right near the Maccas on Lonsdale Road). A fantastic spacious spot, they were just finishing up a huge alfresco dining area out the front plus a big bakery space at the back (gelato get in my belly!), by the time you pop up to visit it will be even better. I have been reliably informed that it should be all done by the end of Feb if not earlier.

A few years back the whole fancy ‘insta milkshake’ became a thing, but with some of them costing more than a trip to the movies and tasting like a bag of icing sugar, you certainly tried them once and then never again. Cafe Rimini has joined the trend of offering fantastic ‘insta worthy’ shakes for the kids, but the difference is they actually taste bloody good and are really good value. Our kids all tried a shake, but through whatever sibling rivalry is going on, they chose the same one – the Coco and Cookie shake. Not a bad choice in the end as it looked incredible and tasted just as good. With a bunch of other choices and flavours, your kids will certainly find one to suit their taste. Or if you want something more simple like Mr 5 did, just grab the old fave, the chocolate shake.

We all loved the food, which was sensational value, with a large range and all the meals tasted fantastic. If you can leave a lunch feeling like everyone was well fed on great quality food at a good price, you know the spot is a winner. Afterwards we popped about 2 minutes down the road to the Hallett Cove foreshore to check out the huge playground and the rock beach (if you are braver than me you may find a crab or two under some rocks).

Open 7 days for breaky, lunch and dinner, this modern Italian with a twist cafe is definitely one to keep in mind when down south. Oh and the coffee was sensational!
