Cheffy Chelbys – Morphett Vale & Christies Beach

Beach, Family Friendly Eats, South

Breakky rolls, brunch and burgers – food for the soul we reckon! Find Cheffy Chelby’s in not one but TWO great locations down south. (Soon to be three, with Hallett Cove opening soon!)

Ok, this is good vibes, kick arse, clean, but tasty AF, food. Especially the burgers. These dripping fresh explosions of flavour are so good that you’ll also find them in our guide to Adelaide’s Best Burgers. Double whammy. We PRIDE our selves on our burger research [Tim is surely close to finishing his Doctorate in burgers?]

Seriously though, when we feature a great family eat, and we love them so much that we want to put them *all* of the places on our website – y’all know it’s damn good.

The homey feel at Chelbys is almost too good to be true. We asked owner, Michelle about that, and fell in love with the answer. It was something along the lines of ‘as a single Mum, I want eating here to be affordable for more people, while also maintaining an excellent quality, because I know how hard that is to find’. The story of her fast and super successful pivot after losing employment in covid’y times blew our socks off. After only a short time with this actual wonderwoman, it was plain to see she’s full of talent and determination.

So, you get the idea, we think the place and the people are awesome.

KIDS EAT FREE on Saturday nights at Christies Beach! That’s right, book a table, take the family in and for each adult main meal you purchase, you will get a kids meal FREE! Choose from kids burgers, toasties and wait for it – GLUTEN FREE NUGGETS! That’s right if gluten upsets your little one, take them in for some coeliac friendly nugs. Yummo.

The kids options and smoothies were a massive hit with our crew and yep, we pretty much ate our weight in fabulous burgers. (The burger and breakfast rolls list is X-TENSIVEEEE). Last thing, you will not be charged extra for gluten free rolls or milk alternatives here – how refreshing.

Kids are actively welcomed with arcade games and colouring textas at the Morphett Vale store and toys, books and chalk at the Christies Beach store. Yay! The kids (and you!) can actually draw on the tables at Christies – they have been painted with blackboard paint and you’ll find a cup of chalk on your table. This kept the kids busy while we waited for their meals to come out (which was not long by the way!).

Much respect for this lovely hard working super successful, *AHA award winning* business owner. We loved her sense of community, evidenced by her proudly displayed sponsorship of the local girls footy team, collection bins for Treasure Boxes & Vinnies, among other things.

Lastly – make sure you try one of the cookies for dessert. They are melt in your mouth good!

Cheffy Chelbys is located at 220 Brodie Road, Morphett Vale and 32a Beach Road, Christies Beach. Hallett Cove opening soon!

  • Find it at: Esplanade, Port Noarlunga How about this stunning playground location! Located at the top of the Esplanade cliff between Port Noarlunga and Christies Beach (Right next door to the Port Noarlunga RSL - Free 8 ball and video games by the way), this great little playground is a fantastic way to let the kids burn off some beach energy while you enjoy the breathtaking views. With lots of space, some modern equipment to climb on with enough to keep the little kids and bigger kids entertained (oh and some fitness equipment if you get the urge...must say I never have!), it is a fave with the locals this one. Lots of parking both on the street and in car parks, with toilets available at the RSL too. There is a BBQ and shelter and enough grassed area to bring a footy for a kick (to be honest this is kite country. Bring one!)

  • For a lot of us, a visit to an RSL is an annual event on Anzac Day, but we found out that they are in fact year round fantastic venues where families are not just welcomed as guests, but are actively encouraged to come visit! We have been fans of the Port Noarlunga-Christies Beach RSL (Returned Services League) forever. A South Australian icon which works tirelessly to provide a great place for the community to catch up and have a drink and a meal in a friendly environment (at really cheap prices too by they way....like really cheap!) We loved the Porties RSL for so many reasons. The location is absolutely magnificent. For the northerners who may not be as familiar with the south, the RSL sits at the very top of the mountain with incredible sea views to the north and south. Port Noarlunga beach (surely in the top 5 beaches in our state) is a few hundred meters to the south and Christies Beach a short walk to the north. With a brand new huge deck out the front of the RSL, there is no better way to wind down after a busy day than to kick back…

  • Do your kids love pizza? Do your kids love mac n cheese? If you answered yes to both......don't make them choose! We've found a place where you can get both......together......on the same plate! That's right.......mac n cheese deep crust pizza at Remy's - Deep Dish Pizza & Bar is a thing.....and it's a DELICIOUS crowd pleaser of a thing. If your kids are cheese obsessed like mine this is definitely going to be a winner! Plus the cocktails… YUM! Their menu is chock-a-block full of deep dish pizza goodness. If Mac n Cheese ain't your thing they've also got a bunch of other just as mouth watering pizza toppings including snag n shrooms, triple cheeseburger and the fire breather as well as never fail faves like The Basic B (just cheese) and BBQ chicken. There's vegan options and they also have fries, garlic bread and fried mozarella if you need something on the side. It comes with a disclaimer that the pizzas take 30-40 minutes to cook, but when we went there was super speedy service, which is always great when you have kids in tow. There's isn't heaps of room for prams, so just bear this in mind when…
