The much-loved Christmas tree, soaring 25 metres in the air at Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga will be lit up in 2023 from November 18th.

Adelaide’s Christmas Festival will officially begin with the annual Christmas tree lighting, the first in a series of events as part of Festive Weekends.

Head to Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga and enjoy a free community celebration, featuring lively performers and culminating in the illumination of the giant Christmas Tree at approximately 8:45 pm by the Lord Mayor and special guest!

Indulge in delectable treats from food trucks while basking in the live entertainment.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets to sit on and enjoy the festivities from. The lights on the Christmas tree will be turned on at approximately 8:30 pm.

Lighting information:

  • From 18 November 2023 to 2 January 2024
  • Lighting takes place daily from 8:00pm to 2:30am
  • The light display loop lasts 10 minutes

The fountains will be on for the kids to splash in on a hot summer’s night under the Christmas lights and on evenings without a Festive Weekends event a festive soundtrack from Gospo Music Collective will play from lighting time for around 40 minutes.
