DESCRIPTION:The State RSL Anzac Eve Youth Vigil (Adelaide) is a youth inspired activity\, since 1999\, that has become the first ceremony of remembrance for Anzac Day in South Australia. With differing backgrounds and interests\, young Australians representing a variety of service and community groups\, conduct a formal ‘Holding Ground’ Ceremony\, a night-long\, guard of honour around the historic South Australian National War Memorial\, corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue\, Adelaide\, from 6.00pm Anzac Eve 24/4/25 to approximately 5.30am Anzac Day morning 25/4/25. \nIn doing so\, the youth have created their own Anzac Day tradition. The evening Dedication Ceremony is attended by invited guests\, youth group organisers and families. Just prior to dawn the youth guards step down and the Dawn Service follows. Young people from many organisations including Scouts Australia\, Guides SA\, Surf Lifesaving SA\, SA State Emergency Service Cadets\, SA Country Fire Service Cadets\, St John Ambulance Cadets\, Girls Brigade South Australia\, Australian Army Cadets\, Australian Airforce Cadets and Australian Navy Cadets participate in the vigil. Head back to the Salisbury RSL for cooked breakfast (bookings essential) or buy an egg and bacon roll from the Rotary Club of Salisbury. \nThe bar will be open and merchandise available for sale. \nAll proceeds raised on the day support the RSL to provide crucial services to defence personnel\, and their families\, both active and retired. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Adelaide International Kite Festival returns to Semaphore beach in 2025! \nHeld over the Easter long weekend\, families flocked to Semaphore to watch the sky fill with colour – the twists and twirls of kites of all shapes and sizes. \nRun by the Adelaide Kite Flyers Association in conjunction with K Marie Events\, this event was established in 1997. \nAfter a record attendance\, we can’t wait to see what this year will bring! \nWHERE: Semaphore Beach Foreshore \nWHEN: Saturday 19 April – Monday 21 April \nTIME: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm \nCOST: Free \n What to Know Before You Go  \n\nFairground rides are set up along the foreshore and run daily during the event. They’re not free\, so bring some cash if the kids want a go.\nParking can be tricky unless you arrive early. Parking further down Semaphore Road and walking in is usually much easier.\nThere’s food available from market stalls (we’ve had burgers and hot chips in the past)\, and most shops and cafes along Semaphore Road stay open during the festival.\nYou can see the kites from Semaphore Road or Military Road\, but the best view is from the jetty. Head right to where they block off part of the beach. There’s usually music and someone on the loudspeaker giving updates.
