Mother Nature runs the show of course\, so any unexpected closures will be announced via their socials and website. \nBookings aren’t required — just turn up and get picking. (Because honestly\, who can get to a booking on time with kids anyway?!) Large groups are welcome\, and buses can be accommodated too. If you’d like to give them a heads up\, great — but it’s not essential. \nPricing \nFinal pricing will be announced the day before opening due to seasonal and industry conditions. \nBUT — and this is important — their pricing structure is different.\nIf you’re used to kids filling buckets\, only to gasp at the cost at the exit\, Birdwood might just become your new favourite. Their system is pre-paid entry with cherries included — so you only pay extra per kg if you want more than what’s already part of your entry. \nEntry Fee \nThe entry fee includes approximately 500g of cherries to take home\, plus cherry snacking straight from the tree (because that’s half the fun!). Pricing will be confirmed closer to opening\, but rest assured — no surprise weigh-ins at the end. \nSo to summarise — you pay an entry fee\, cherries are included\, kids can pick and eat\, and you only pay more if you want extra. Add in weekly activities\, live music and a friendly Sunday atmosphere\, and you’ve got a calmer\, more local way to prepare for the festive season one that’s better for the planet\, supports local growers and comes without any fuss. \nOn Sunday 21 December\, shoppers can pick up their pre-ordered hams\, cherries\, cheeses\, Christmas gin and more\, straight from the people who grow\, raise\, bake and make it. \nWe keep trading right through the festive season\, including Sunday 28 December\, so you can restock for New Year gatherings or holiday visitors or for the family getaway. Just make sure names and addresses are nice and clear.\nDiary Date: Santa will be visiting the market on Sunday 14 December for free photos too. \nSUNDAY 30 NOVEMBER \nKids’ Corner: Christmas Pinecone Craft (30 November)\nChildren can roll up their sleeves and decorate pinecones with our friendly market volunteers. It’s an easy\, hands-on activity that gives kids a chance to make something festive to take home. Free to join\, with donations welcome. Adult supervision is needed.\n10am to 11pm in the Kids Corners of the Market Pavilion \nSanta’s Coming to Market (14 December)\nSanta will be at the market under the big veradah from 9am–12pm for free photos\, helped by volunteers from the CFS. Enjoy the music\, tap your feet\, and soak up the friendly atmosphere they bring to every performance. \nSA Youth Guitar Ensemble (14 December – Outdoors)\nEnjoy live Christmas music from the talented SA Youth Guitar Ensemble while Santa visits the market. SAYGE will perform a short Christmas set at 10am. They’re a talented group of young classical guitarists who bring a lovely energy to the market.
