SUMMARY:Walk Safely to School Day
DESCRIPTION:Primary school aged children across Australia will make those important steps towards a healthier future by participating in National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 22 May\, 2026! \nNow in its 27th year\, the national initiative\, championed by the Pedestrian Council of Australia\, encourages children and families to build regular walking into their daily routine — not just on one day\, but every day. The campaign highlights the health\, road safety\, transport and environmental benefits of active travel to and from school. \nChildren need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day\, and walking before and after school is one of the simplest ways to help meet that target. Regular movement supports healthy growth\, strong bones and muscles\, improved cardiovascular fitness and overall wellbeing. Research also shows that active children demonstrate stronger concentration and cognitive performance\, helping them arrive at school focused and ready to learn. \nWalk Safely to School Day also responds to a significant national health challenge\, with around one in four Australian children affected by overweight or obesity. Encouraging simple daily habits like walking to school can help build lifelong healthy behaviours while reducing traffic congestion and improving safety around school gates. \nSafety remains central to the campaign\, with parents and carers reminded that children under 10 must always hold the hand of an adult when crossing the road. \nParents and carers are encouraged to speak with their school principal\, teachers or P&C about participating in Walk Safely to School Day and incorporating walking activities on Friday 22 May. \nSchools are also encouraged to Host a Healthy Breakfast to reinforce the link between good nutrition and physical activity and to register for publicity to share their positive stories. \nWhen: Friday 22 May\, 2026 \nWhere: All primary schools across SA \nCost: Free \nFor more information and to register your school\, visit https://www.walk.com.au/WSTSD/ \n

SUMMARY:Pretty Woman the Muscial
DESCRIPTION:Step into Hollywood with the dazzling stage adaptation of the beloved romantic comedy Pretty Woman! \nBursting with glamour\, charm\, and all the iconic moments from the film\, this joyous musical features direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell\, an electrifying original score by Grammy® winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance\, and a book by Garry Marshall and J.F. Lawton. \nFollow Vivian and Edward\, unlikely soulmates\, as they overcome all odds to find each other and themselves in a show that brings Broadway sparkle and Hollywood magic to life. \nWHERE: Her Majesty’s Theatre\nWHEN: From May 31 – June 30 \nBook tickets here \nKids in Adelaide Review \nPretty Woman: The Musical at Her Majesty’s Theatre delivered exactly what we were hoping for as fans of the iconic movie. Nostalgia\, glamour and plenty of laughs. Staying very true to the film\, we loved seeing so many classic moments recreated on stage\, although we definitely missed Vivian singing “Kiss” in the bathtub! While Edward could have leaned a little more into the silver fox energy\, he and Vivian absolutely nailed the role vocally and theatrically. Vivienne’s stage presence felt perhaps more confident than Julia Roberts’ sweeter\, more reserved movie version. The real scene-stealers for us? The Beverly Wilshire hotel manager and butler who were both hilarious\, charming and impossible not to love. \nIf you’re expecting wall-to-wall songs\, adjust your expectations slightly as this one felt as much like a theatre production as a traditional musical\, and we definitely missed some of the original soundtrack favourites. That said\, it’s still an outstanding show and an easy five stars from us. Grab your mums\, aunties\, girlfriends and anyone who loved this movie through the 80s\, 90s and beyond. Would kids enjoy it? Probably not – unless they already love the movie. \nPretty Woman: The Musical runs for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including a 20-minute interval\, with the Adelaide season at Her Majesty’s Theatre running until 5 July. \nHot tip for your theatre night too\, we booked a table next door at The Hotel Metropolitan\, pre-ordered our meals and honestly\, it made for the perfect pre-show experience. We rolled in\, were served almost immediately\, enjoyed dinner without rushing and comfortably strolled next door to the theatre all within an hour pre show.
