You will find this high quality, healthy, family friendly gem sitting vibrantly on the corner of Ellen & George Street in the heart of Moonta. It is trendy, it is comfy and just try not to dance in front of the stunning wall art – you won’t be able to.

On our recent trip to Yorkes we went in search of some healthy options. Don’t know about you, but it becomes all a bit too easy to have *another* servo stop, pizza or pub meal when you are away from home doesn’t it? We were stoked when we remembered Nook & Nourish, sitting proud and pumping out the good vibes we needed before another big beach day.

Our visit was for brunch and didn’t disappoint, with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating and brilliant organic coffee we were off to a fabulous start. The kids enjoyed a hot chocolate, juice jar and particularly loved the kids waffles. I ate the best breakfast sandwich ever created, and we all loved the snickers smoothie which actually 1. was bloody hard to chose from the extensive selection and 2. was so filling it was a meal on it’s own .

The menu here is clean and changes daily. It also caters for vegetarians and vegans (often harder to find these options in regional SA so big props to these guys for that). There is also a small wall of organic, specialty and eco friendly products to shop.

Nook & Nourish can be a busy little place, especially in peak periods. Bookings are recommended. Current open hours are 8-3.30pm Mon- Fri, 9-3pm Sat and 9-2pm Sun. Check in with their social media for changes and public holiday trading.

Definitely add this one to your Moonta Itinerary or Copper Coast Itinerary – it gets a thumbs up from us.

*Note; this succcessful business is currently FOR SALE. What a beautiful sea change for some one looking to take on some thing new. Enquire directly with the outlet.

  • I think I just died and went to brunch heaven. I definitely have a new contender for best brunch on Yorke Peninsula...while staying in Moonta, we dropped into Taste The Yorke, a delightful and delicious café on the main drag in town. Run by Jo and her lovely staff, Taste The Yorke gives locals and tourists alike somewhere to support local Yorkes businesses in more ways than one. The café consists of mainly outdoor seating around an undercover verandah, with a few tables inside. Head indoors to order and have a look at the local produce and products for sale. Jo gets in fresh bread from the famous Minlaton Bakery, plus you'll find shelves stocked with goodies from MBC Foods, Broughton River Gourmet and plenty of other local Yorke Peninsula products. Let's get to the menu though! So much to choose from....the menu is mostly centered around brunch, with some lunch options such as quiche, salad and cornish pasties (if you haven't had a cornish pasty while in Moonta, you are missing out!). The whole menu is available all day though, so you really don't need to decide between brunch or lunch! For the kids there is the "Little Yorkers:…

  • Whenever you travel to a regional town, you always ask the locals "where is the best place for a feed", which usually points you in the right direction. In the case of our Moonta trip, we were unanimously pointed to Café Capella's for the best family feed, and boy we were not disappointed. Easy to find, right in the heart of town on Main Street, with choices to dine in or take away on offer, we chose to dine inside - though on a warm day, the parklet seating outside would be perfect!). Now consider yourselves warned - the menu is HUGE. You'll find everything from pasta, pizza, burgers, salads, mains, seafood, entrees, dessert AND a great drinks menu. Honestly, allow yourself a bit of time to peruse the menu because it took us a LONG time to decide. In the end we went with bruschetta and sweet potato fries to start, risotto and a seafood basket for mains and lemon tart for dessert. The kids chose pasta and good 'ol fish n chips - all of it was EXCELLENT and it came out so quickly. For the kids, the menu offers and under 10s selection which is well priced…

  • There are a lot of really cool water parks around the place now, but with most of them hidden in various tourist parks and only available for use of their customers, it can be hard to find one that everyone can use. Splashtown at Moonta Bay Foreshore is a fantastic community facility (NOW WITH NEWLY INSTALLED SHADE SAILS!!), open for everyone to use at the bargain price of FREE! Thats right, this brilliant water park located right on the foreshore is absolutely free. A real family holiday fave hot spot, the water park is able to be used by kids (and adults…well nobody told me off) of all ages and abilities. My youngest was a little shy at first but he was covered by the little slide in the park. The eldest kids (and me) had a ball on the 4 big slides as well as the big water bucket. With plenty of seats and grassed areas to sit and watch the kids, as well as it all being fenced off, this just makes for a superb family arvo. Once you finish at the water park you can wander the nearby beach and jetty, play in the adjacent enclosed playground…
