Normanville is one of THE best (if not just flat out Number 1) beachside regional town in SA. We are so spoilt for choice, but this little town about an hour south of the city on the Fleurieu Peninsula is right up there for its beautiful location, proximity to incredible scenery (second valley for the win) and fab spots for the family. We are Normy regulars and have loooong loved the Normanville Kiosk and Cafe, located in absolute prime beach front, down at the doorstep to the beach (literally the doorstep….the ramp to the beach is about 7 metres from the door of the cafe).

Not just a summer spot (it is open all year round), we visited in the middle of a freezing winter spell but absolutely loved the crisp blue winter skies and the view was just stunning. Obviously the huge outdoor decking area is the place to be in summer, but the spacious indoor dining space with the windows offering panoramic views of the coast is simply spectacular. Opening 7 days for breakfast and lunch, times vary throughout the year (and during peak seasons this is the place to be, with the nearby holiday park boosting numbers substantially, so best to book ahead) so check on their site to get the up to date opening hours info.

Great views, fantastic staff and a beautiful seaside location are one thing, but is the food any good? Well we are super happy to say that the food is so good, we would just about drive from Adelaide for another feed. It is a ripper. In the past, this has been our go-to for a great coffee/breaky roll combo from the take away window (another awesome feature of this place!), so we were really looking forward to tucking into the full lunch menu.

With both a breakfast and lunch menu on offer, both menus offered a good range of well priced options for the kids. For lunch, for just $12 the kids will have a great feed of the usual favourites and includes a drink and dessert. Terrific value. To ensure adequate quality testing for the purpose of this review, a few nuggets were seized under the Dad Tax and can confirm they are spot on.

For the adults, we tried the eye fillet and the double cheeseburger, both of which were sensational. We have eaten a bucketload of burgers and this one was right up there, so we highly recommend any burger lovers to give this one a try. The steak was unreal and we have absolute confidence that the rest of the menu is of same standard., We also loved the local beers from Smiling Samoyed down at Myponga, but all your other faves are available too.

This is an absolute 5 Star spot. Love. Love. Love this place.

Adelaide’s Best Donut – (A story by Tim)

Donuts. Nobody hates a donut and if they do, they aren’t worth knowing anyway. Probably the most important food in our economy, shown by the fact that when referencing any country town the quality of the bakery is point number 1, and every bakery lives or dies by its donuts. Case closed. Donuts are King.
