The Salvo’s play cafe in Gawler is a colourful, friendly and fun space that would suit 1-5 year olds.

It’s still currently a work in progress as they have grand plans to create a large outdoor space for families including outdoor play equipment, a gardening patch and more.

But for now the current play space boasts a clean environment, a fantastic view of the river through the large windows, a very affordable cafe menu, really friendly staff and best of all – free entry!

The play space is located within a church facility and it is their aim is to have it as a positive community space. There is also a small sensory room that is aimed at supporting families with a child on the spectrum. They have a lot of resources and have even created a flip chart of resources so parents utilising the sensory room can request certain items that suit their child’s needs.

For parents with babies and toddlers you’ll be pleased to find high chairs, a nappy changing area and a separate play area you can sit down in with your child.

We’re looking forward to popping back in a few months time to catch up on the renos and will update this post as soon as we have.

Recommendations:

  1. If you enter through the front door, head straight to the back of the facility as the play space is the last door on the left.
  2. Pop to Clonlea Park afterwards as it’s just around the corner!

  • There are many things we love about Clonlea Park on Murray Road in Gawler. Since its revamp in 2015 there is something for everyone. The new skate park is a major hit with a lot of kids both young and old. There is also a small playground near there to keep the little ones happy while the big ones skate. The main playground is so much fun, complete with rope climbing tower. Clonlea Park is full of different walking trails, perfect to get in touch with nature, following the river. There are also tennis courts available for use. Clonlea Park has many tables, a few BBQ's and toilets. The only downside is lack of covered area's to play, eat and escape the rain or hot sun.
