Sammy’s On The Marina

Sometimes you may want to try something a bit fancier than your local pub for your family dinner, but finding somewhere that is family friendly as well can be tricky. There are a lot of really good pub-style family restaurants to chose from but for something different we think we have found a really cool place in one of Adelaide’s best locations (Marina Pier Glenelg), which is also good for the kids.

Located on the Marina Pier at Glenelg, Sammys on the Marina will tick a lot of boxes if you are looking to see if your kids are ready to move on from pub grub to something a bit more swanky. As you arrive on the pier, Sammys is in the absolute prime spot right at the end of the marina overlooking the ocean. With lots of outdoor and indoor dining space, whether you want to take your clan outside in the fresh air or inside is entirely up to you. One tip, if you sit inside on a hot day it can get a tad hot right next to the windows, but there is a lot of space to move if you get a bit warm.

We loved the kids menu. Fish and chips is of course on the menu, but if your kids (like mine) aren’t too flash on seafood there’s also chicken schnitzel and cheese and tomato pasta options. At only $19.90, an added bonus is the included dessert and soft drink as part of the kids meals, which really increase the value of a night out at a place such as this compared to your standard pub fare.

Lets be honest though, this one is more for the parents so you will love the incredible menu on offer. We tried the steak (oh my god) and the crab pasta (OH MY GOD) which were incredible, but I really don’t think you will go wrong here whatever you try. There is something just so relaxing about standing outside watching the sunset with a (insert fave drink here) in hand (Cider for me is my summer drink of choice)

If you have a function coming up, we snuck upstairs to their private function area with huge balcony overlooking the marina. With the balcony shielded nicely from the evening sun, you can just imagine relaxing with a few drinks whilst dreaming of how rich you would need to be to own one of the mega yachts berthed just below.

For that slightly fancier night out but a place that also caters for your family, Sammys will hit the spot.
