Simple Heat Experiment

By  |

This is a TERRIFIC little experiment from Coffee Cups and Crayons. It requires just a few items, not much time and is a really great way for kids to learn about variables. Yay! Let’s get this science thing happening early hey?

It’s probably best suited for kids who are old enough to be careful, calm and observant, please be aware that you will need to help them as it involves hot water and food colouring. That said, I know my 4-and-a-half-year-old nephew would LOVE this experiment and (although he’s flat out most of the time!) he would be able to do this carefully with instruction. I think this experiment can help encourage a great line of questioning about variables, temperature and may even lead to more experiments! Fun!
