Looking for something to do with the kids or grandkids away from screens, outside the four walls and out in the fresh air? Well they are bound to be entertained at Tarnasey Farm situated just out of Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula less than a two hour easy drive from Adelaide.  At Tarnasey Farm city slickers can roll up their sleeves and get involved in farm life during a short visit or an extended stay with the amazing North Beach just minutes from the farm gate for the ultimate sea/tree getaway.

Children and adults are welcomed with good old fashioned country hospitality and invited to join the guided complimentary animal feeding tour each morning during their stay. We highly recommend this and from what we could tell, all the guests from the other cabins came across too so we had a good crowd of kids and dozen adults or so, with the feeding taking about an hour. It was very casual too, so if you want to duck off and pat the horses for a bit longer like our older teens did, then go right ahead! Usually greeted by Wilbur the pig who is known for being a show off, guests are encouraged to get up close and personal with a menagerie of friendly farm animals spoiling them with fresh carrots (and there are plenty to go around!).  Kids, parents and grandparents have so much fun doing the rounds and feeding the cows, sheep, pigs, horses alpaca, goats, ducks and chickens which also provide fresh eggs for guests staying in the accommodation.

The 7 self contained, 2 bedroom cabins on the 27 acre property sleep up to 6 people in each cabin with portacots and highchairs supplied at no additional cost.  Arriving to complimentary supply of all linen, coffee, tea and hot chocolate making facilities, a free to use BBQ at your door and a gorgeous basket of fresh fruit, a dozen free range eggs and fresh SA milk in the fridge makes for a perfect start to your time away.  The cabins have about 20 meters between them and make an ideal set up for heading away with a group of friends or family and the decks on the cabins make for a fantastic space to enjoy the serenity that Tarnasey Farm boasts.

The views here are spectacular. With seemingly unending farm land (Kerry assures us in winter you will find some beautiful lush green fields!) to soak in, clear skies and just peace and quiet. Wander over and see the horses and pigs whenever you want, plus only about 3 minutes out of Wallaroo, it is the perfect spot to launch into your daily adventures on the Copper Coast.

  • Nestled amongst the bushland at Craigburn Farm, this brand new adventure nature playground is a real winner and worth the drive. Essentially being a bit of a ninja/climbing course over rocks, poles and other naturey type objects, it is great for kids and parents to test out those hamstrings and the sore lower back. It is a bit lacking in extra facilities like toilets, fencing and shade, but it is a stones throw from the epic Blackwood Treetop playground so it makes for a cool playground double header. • In the heart of Woodcroft Farm, this spot has lots of natural shade and if you enjoy a hit of tennis, then you are more than covered here! The playground could probably do with an equipment upgrade or so (it certainly has the space and it really would make it a fantastic attraction) but as it is, for the locals it is a nice destination for a walk and for the kids to have a run around. Seated shelter and plenty of parking, but no toilets or BBQ sadly for this one. More for the toddlers and young kids this one, with a couple of slides and swings pretty much covering all this one has to offer equipment wise. Personally, it is just a lovely relaxing spot and if you live nearby it is worth a look.
