Majestic Hotels is South Australian owned and operated, offering five apartments and hotels in SA including the Old Lion Apartments in North Adelaide. We sent our newest KiA team member Caroline on a night away to check them out for our “Mum Time” feature which has been so popular on our website. Not a bad first gig huh!

There are 66 recently refurbished apartments to choose from all of which are surrounded by impeccably manicured common spaces and courtyards. Oh, and there’s no need to share beds as the apartments range in size from 1, 2 and spacious 3 bedrooms with flexible bedding arrangments. They also include a lounge area (which is perfect for the girl gang), fully equipped kitchen (great for cheese platters and beyond), a bath to sit and relax in, free unlimited wifi and 8 Foxtel channels.

Caroline said “As I walked into the room I felt an immediate sense of calm. This isn’t just any hotel. There’s space to spread out. Immediately I see the beautiful lounge and dining area, fully equipped kitchen and even your own laundry (even though I wasn’t planning on doing any!) The best part though are the beds, my goodness, so comfortable and the pillows felt like clouds!
On a side table there was a beautiful bottle of champagne and an Edible Blooms gift from the Hotel waiting for me with a card telling me to enjoy my well-deserved break. It was so thoughtful and I felt special. It’s been a while since anyone bought me a gift that I hadn’t chosen for myself!”

Free onsite parking is such a bonus, especially in a busy spot like North Adelaide. It’s lovely to be able to park right at the reception door to check in. You can park the car and leave it there for the duration of your stay or know that you can pop in and out as you please without having to contend with busy CBD traffic to find a spot to park.

The central location provides so many options for your girls night (or weekend) away. Step out onto Melbourne Street to enjoy a meal and a few drinks at any of the nearby cafes and restaurants, or jump in a taxi to the CBD which is only 5 minutes away. Adelaide Oval, Adelaide Zoo and Adelaide Festival Centre are all just minutes from your door you can enjoy a whole day out before returning for dinner and then back to your room for facials and bubbly!

Or just do as Caroline did. Stay in, get comfy and sit for hours chatting, laughing and sipping champagne with your friends and ordering Uber Eats right to your door!

The Majestic Old Lion Apartments are currently offering a Thanks Mum package which includes a free upgrade, Edible Blooms gift hamper, bottle of McLaren Vale wine, late check out and carpark all from just $180 per night.

  • Kinkaid Ave North Plympton As soon as you see this playground nestled amongst a huge grassed area you are drawn to the array of bright colours of the play equipment. Nestled in the suburb of North Plympton this playground is fully fenced and features lots of climbing and balancing pieces for the kids. Monkeys bars, climbing poles, stepping stones to a spider web that stands alone. Suitable for 2 - 6 year olds, this playground also has a swing set ( including baby swing) slippery dip, and a bouncy animal piece of equipment the little ones all love. Whilst there is no shade cloth over the equipment this park is surrounded by lots of lovely trees that will continue to grow and provide shade for the play area .   A nice neighbourhood playground unfortunately No toilets at this park but if in need of a coffee Solar Eggs Café is just a short stroll away on Kinkaid Ave. Location - Kinkaid Ave North Plympton

  • Better known as Helicopter Park to many, Glover North Playground is located on Lefevre Terrace in North Adelaide. With a large helicopter as its centrepiece, smaller kids can slide out of the chopper's belly as one of the many pint-sized highlights located at this much loved playground. There are also plenty of swings, see-saws, climbing frames and sand play equipment including the popular diggers in the huge sandpit. Much of the playground's fun is best suited to younger kids aged 1-5 years, however older kids will also enjoy the larger climbing frames, rope bridge and forts. Most of the equipment has softfall rubber matting or barkchips to break any falls. There is a range of equipment that isn't common elsewhere with Heaps of things to climb on, slide down, walk across and more. One of the best fenced playgrounds near the CBD, Helicopter Park has shaded, grassy picnic spots, drink fountain, toilets and BBQ facilities. Keep in mind that most of the play equipment is not shaded. There are also horses agisted in the nearby parklands which the kids love - take care though as patting and feeding is not recommended. There is also a super cute Little Free Library where you…

  • This local reserve located just off Anzac Highway has a fabulous "Outback" theme playground equipment that gives the kids a great place to use there imaginations when playing. This playground has lots of pieces of equipment for kids to climb up and over and through. It includes a small slippery dip, bridge for climbing over ,swing set including baby swing and I love how they have used an old water tank to create the outback theme that the kids can play in. There are couple of little themed bouncy pieces of equipment for the toddlers along with a huge grassed area to run some energy off. It also has wheelchair access. This reserve has BBQ facilities with undercover tables. However NO toilets, NO fence or No shade for the playground area. A nice little spot for a quick play if in the area. Closest coffee is either Jetty Road Glenelg with lots of café options or Coffee Time on Tapley's Hill Road. Alison St Glenelg North
