So, I did something a bit special with Miss 9 – I had a date night! I posted a few pics on Facebook and WOW the the responses and comments I received were special, and so many loved the idea or had done this before that I have decided to actually expand on my experience here.

Normally some 1:1 time with my oldest daughter would be after Miss 4 was in bed and we could watch netflix over a tub of ice cream together. Don’t get me wrong this is always amazing BUT then there are dishes, cleaning and the domestic back log still screaming at me – so I just can’t relax, take it in….. I am distracted and caught up in the world of busyness! So as it stands we decided to run away for the night just her and I. No Dads or siblings allowed! (This time….)

My outlook for the kids recently has been experiences vs stuff and this is so important of late, they last longer, they create memories, and you probably get something more out of it for yourself also (also helps reduce the clutter that accumulates with every material purchase – winning).

So where did we go? Lucky me the destination was a fancy hotel! Miss 9 had it high on her wish list to live it large in the city for a night, room service, swimming (awesome indoor heated pool and spa here) and really just some Mum time, sans annoying little sister. It was great timing that Pullman Adelaide invited us to come and experience a night! We had a high level Fringe Agenda so what better timing to base ourselves in the heart of the city with 24 hours of splurging, relaxing and exploring.

What a perfect opportunity to Check Out of the norm and Check Into some 1:1 time……. here are my 9 (due to my first born’s age) highlights of our fabulous time.

1.Dishes be gone!

For close to 24 hours I was not responsible for a single sink of dishes! No magnet drawing me away from special time to be a slave to any thing domestic. Whether it’s dishes or the constant toy spill across the floor (…probably sticky floor)… it’s not there and you do not see it, so that’s a holiday in itself!

2. People watching

Miss 9 loved having her lemonade in the Pullman lobby watching people come and go and this was a great “serious” meeting spot to plan our agenda for the next 24 hours – plus we had loads of giggles guessing why people were coming to a hotel (or what type of undies they might be wearing) – highly recommend this game for a laugh.

3. Robes !

Just like the movies…. they are fluffy, they are perfectly white and they only came off when it was socially unacceptable to wear them! Now that I think of it – it was Fringe, maybe we should have just gone with it……..?

4. Room Service…

Again no cooking, no distractions and more 1:1 time! My daughter felt very posh selecting and calling through the order, and of course top selection – Ice Cream Sundae with the works! We layed in bed, indulged and just laughed… perfection!

5. Pampering

Probably my favourite part! We got used our face masks and layed in our fluffy robes and it was a fun new experience! Pure Mum – Daughter Time with a nice side of CLEANSE.

6. Tourists in our own city !

So after the Fluffy Robes and Sundaes we did venture out and the location was perfecto! Pullman Adelaide is situated on Hindmarsh Square which is in the East End of Adelaide and a stones throw to Rundle Mall and Rundle Street … yes some shopping may have been a guilty pleasure! We loved venturing to the Fringe and all the city atmosphere that came along with it outside of the festival itself. My daughter felt special to be out on foot in the city at night.

Don’t forget Adelaide plays host to many amazing tourist attractions, including the below which are some of our favourites. Being in the city you can do so much in one day! A picnic in the Botanic followed by an exhibition at the Museum and Rundle Mall on the way back to the hotel!

South Australian Museum

Art Gallery of South Australia

Adelaide Oval

Botanic Gardens of Adelaide

Marshmallow Park

7. Breakfast for days….

You cannot stay at a hotel and skip the Buffet Breakfast! Pullman Adelaide’s breakfast is one of the best in the city and we may have gone up for seconds and thirds…… There was no cooking and again no dishes. We got to have really whatever we wanted and again it was quality time over pancakes and with no mess (I still love that part).

8. I enjoyed it! ..

Lets be honest; sometimes as adults we get BORED (yes I said it) at our kids activities that range from nurf competitions to slime making or sport……. but this I got to have some time out too. Quality time coupled with a little face mask… how could I not love every thing about this experience.

9. That pool!

This hotel is one of very few in Adelaide that offers a lovely in door heated pool and spa #floattime

Now the exciting news is that since our visit and our audience’s reaction to my stay idea / hotel sleepover  Pullman Adelaide have since released an exciting package called “Mum & Me” for THESE School Holidays and beyond!!!!
