Just take a moment to check out the breathtaking location for this equally as breathtaking place to take your family out for a meal.

Taking out for a meal doesn’t seem to do it justice really, it is more ‘spoiling your family with a culinary experience’, but without feeling like you have to dip into the life savings to cover the bill.

So what exactly is it that makes Vintage Chef Co so damn good? Read on!

Lets start with the location. The beautiful Barossa Valley. Lyndoch to be exact, nestled in the grounds of Chateau (yes I had to check I spelt ‘Chateau’ correctly) Yaldara, a sprawling property that looks more like a palace than anything we have seen in a long time. It truly is a stunning property, which if you are lucky enough to capture on a day like our visit, must be one of the most picturesque places in our state.

We started off our visit with a little bit of play time on the huge grassed area, which was perfect after the almost hour long drive (didn’t feel like an hour to be honest, it was such a nice drive) and we saw plenty of families kicking the footy and running around.

The main Vintage Chef Co building is on the end right next to the tower and one of the first things you will notice is the MASSIVE kids play room. This hexagonal room is fabulously spacious with natural light beaming in. Lots of great toys to keep the kids busy while you enjoy a delicious meal and relax.

But how about the food? It might be pretty to look at but what does it taste like? Ok so lets hope the words and pictures properly get across how much we loved the food here. Un-freaking-believable!

Vintage Chef Co. is open for breakfast and lunch and kids well and truly catered for. We loved the VCC Kids Platter which included a ham and cheese toastie, fruit, veggie sticks, cookie and a fruit box. Just perfect for a hungry 1 year old who thought all his Christmases had come at once. The Spaghetti Bolognaise is full of hidden veg (just the way we like it), Ham and Cheese Pizza, fruit platter – everyone is catered for here – even the fussiest of fusspots. We didn’t do the breakky, but the kids nutella crepes look like they would be a very, very good candidate for some Dad Tax. Just saying

“Thats enough about the kids”, we hear you say…Don’t worry, the adult menu is just as superb. Designed so there is a little something for everyone this is a really unique experience incorporating top class food but in a genuinely comfortable family friendly environment. Not a common combo…but Vintage Chef Co. have nailed it.

We over ate here. Not going to lie. Couldn’t choose, so we chose it all. The Vintage Platter could very, very easily comfortably feed 2 adults and with some local wines thrown in, is very budget friendly. A gorgeous selection of local meats, cheeses, dips and fruits….plus more. We highly, highly recommend. The karaage chicken is to die for, as are the dumplings and beef carpaccio. You really can’t go wrong. With any choice.

Meal Prep! Delivered to your door!

You read that right. The incredible food dreamt up by the insanely talented Teagan can be sent straight to your door and into your mouth (via the microwave).

We took a bunch of meals to try and as someone who has been through a range of different meal prep options, we can easily say these are the right up there with our favourites. Great packaging, a huge range of meals based on your dietary requirements, rotating menu so you never get bored of the food, spot on for work lunches and really well priced.

It is so fresh and tasty, plus you can get breakfast and dessert options too! These meals are absolutely going to become regulars for us and did we mention they now deliver to Mount Barker? With delivery from Clare right down to McLaren Vale, there is a very good chance you will be able to jag yourselves some home delivered meal prep goodness.

Oh and weddings, functions, on-site catering, events at Yaldara….I mean come on how amazing is this place! Check out the contact deets below and hurry up and get booking.

  • The Barossa Valley Chocolate Company opened just before Easter 2019, and is a must-visit when you are in the area. Don’t plan on a quick visit just to buy some amazing chocolate though, there is so much on offer here you can easily spend at least a few hours. A gelato bar greets you upon entry, with all of the delicious flavours made on-site, and free tastings available. The chocolate store is heaven for lovers of fine chocolate. If you can peel your eyes away from the vast selection available, you can watch the chocolatiers hard at work through viewing windows. You can find Ruby chocolate on the shelves, a unique chocolate that was only released in Australia in late 2018, and it is definitely worth a taste. There are hampers and gift packs available for purchase as well as over 250 individual products. There are some extra-special moulded chocolates that make wonderful gifts (life-size sparkly stiletto heel, anyone?) and there are sugar free and dairy free options available. We can personally recommend the milk chocolate coated honeycomb, as well as the dark chocolate with caramelised almonds and vanilla bean. Benni’s Café is large and accessible with a great menu…

  • The Z Wine Cellar Door and Wine Bar is set on the main street in the heart of Tanunda. The corner location and floor to ceiling windows make it the perfect place to sit in comfort and watch the world outside. The beautiful vintage styling, chairs, sofas and ornate furnishings give Z Wines a feeling of elegance and cosiness. The menu includes a range of wines, hot and cold drinks, grazing platters, desserts, as well as local produce to take home from “Granny Zerk’s Cupboard”. The quality of the food and wine on offer is outstanding and a fantastic opportunity to sample the local fare. Tasting some of the Z Wine range alongside local produce is a must. We opted for a mixed plank and a regional platter, both of which were an absolute delight and fantastic value. One of the highlights of the meal was having Kristen talk us through each and every item on our platters, primarily local produce sourced from family businesses, with some items produced exclusively for Z Wine. The staff at Z Wine know the ins and outs of everything on the menu and they are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise. The Z…

  • Part of The Barossa Council's Big Project this 1km loop is located in the township of Angaston on the corner of Washington and Fife Street. The track features a range of rollers and berms, a wall ride, and timber bridge. TrailScapes are the clever folks behind this project and according to their website this track is "Very much like a little MTB playground in the middle of a town, this unique loop gets “sessioned”, laps after laps by riders of all ages and ability level. This is definitely a great trail to gain confidence on the bike." We can't wait to check this one out for ourselves and will update this post with more info soon.
