Coastal Sounds

12/06/2023 @ 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM ACST

Coastal Sounds, a beloved free event featuring live music along Adelaide’s coastline, is making a comeback after a 2-year break. The event will take place on Monday, June 12, during the Sovereign’s Birthday long weekend.

This year, Coastal Sounds will showcase 17 live performances at 8 picturesque beachside locations, including West Beach, Henley Beach, Grange, and Semaphore Park’s Point Malcolm Reserve. The event will conclude with a beautiful sunset session on the deck of the Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club, offering stunning views of the coast.

Supported by the City of Charles Sturt’s Live and Local grants program, this unique music event welcomes both locals and visitors to embrace the winter beach experience. Attendees can enjoy an afternoon of intimate performances by a variety of artists, ranging from emerging talents to established musicians. Instead of traditional stages and speakers, each act will perform against the backdrop of the coast, utilizing selected walkways, reserves, shelters, and amphitheatres along Adelaide’s shoreline.

The family-friendly winter music event boasts an eclectic lineup, featuring artists of different ages and a wide range of musical styles. From multi-instrumental loop master Adam Page and soul alt-country singer-songwriter Kelly Menhennett to blues legend Jimmybay, folk pop songwriter Naomi Keyte, and Gypsy Swing favorites Les Gitans Blancs, there’s something for everyone. The lineup also includes soul RnB singer Angela Tripodi, Zooma Zooma’s Julian Ferraretto and Anthony Leppa, as well as talented young singer-songwriters like Adelaide Hill’s country folk duo Ella and Sienna, Nat Luna, Elizabeth Ruyi, and many others.

For those looking for a more interactive experience, there are opportunities to join Guru Dudu Silent Disco Tours and dance along the esplanade. Attendees can also participate in sing-alongs with groups like the Nonnas and Nonnos of Molfettese Singing Group, acapella pop choir InU, the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society, and the world’s first Park Choir event at the Point Malcolm Reserve amphitheatre. The Park Choir experience offers a joyful community sing-along, where the audience becomes the show as they learn to sing a classic song in multi-part harmony under the guidance of Park Choir leader Deborah Brennan.
