While Roonka River Adventure Park has been creating memorable river adventures for more than 50 years, it’s one of the hidden family-friendly gems of the Riverland! Owned and operated by Scouts SA, it’s already well known and loved by those in the Scouting community (and savvy school camp organisers). Now families and groups of friends are discovering Roonka’s experience-based camping and group accommodation nestled on a lush, tranquil riverbank near Blanchetown. About an hour and forty minutes north-east of Adelaide, the Roonka experience is built around a love of water activities and the outdoors, designed to help you ‘disconnect to reconnect’ with each other … and nature. Kids delight in the flying fox over the private billabong, where they can also safely learn to paddle watercraft. The waterslide into the river is also a firm favourite! Adults and confident paddlers can hire kayaks and canoes (or bring their own) to explore Reedy Island and the peaceful backwaters of Roonka Conservation Park. There are plenty of land-based activities, including orienteering courses, a photo hunt, playground and Echidna Nature Trail. Or simply throw in a line, try your hand at yabbying, or relax with a book under one of the majestic gums.…
Find it at: Poltawa Terrace, Broadview Broadview Oval is a fabulous community space, which includes equipment and facilities for the whole family including: Playground Electric BBQ Cycle Track Tennis Clubs Oval Dog Park Kiosk (open Monday to Friday 8am-11am and 4pm-8pm, weekends for football games). This area is only an off-leash area for dogs between 5am and 8am, and 5pm and 9pm. The fenced off dog park is off-leash all of the time. We love the huge sand play and the small pump track for the little kids to fly around on their little bikes.
Wife of a FIFO miner, but don't let that define her. Mum of two jetty jumping brats aged tween and teen (who live on fresh air, saltwater and attitude). Bare feet not heels. Hats not hair styles. Beaches not bars. Food over fashion. If you can't find her she's likely 'home' on the Yorke Peninsula.
