Kids Go FREE at Adelaide Zoo This August
Has a visit to Adelaide Zoo be on your to-do list for ages? August is the time to tick it off the list because throughout August 2026, kids can visit Adelaide Zoo for FREE with a paying adult!
This special offer is running from 1 to 31 August 2026 and includes free admission for children aged 4 to 14.
Kids aged three and under already receive free entry to Adelaide Zoo, although they still need a free Cub ticket.

Why Are Kids Going Free?
It’s panda birthday season at Adelaide Zoo!
August marks the birthday of Giant Panda Yi Lan, who turns five on 10 August. Fellow panda Xing Qiu turns six on 29 September, so Adelaide Zoo is stretching out the celebrations with panda-themed fun during August. Keep an eye out for birthday enrichment, special keeper talks and opportunities to see Yi Lan and Xing Qiu tucking into some of their favourite treats.
Make a Day of It
There’s plenty to see beyond the pandas, with Adelaide Zoo home to more than 200 species from Australia and around the world. If you haven’t visited for a while, August could be a great opportunity to head back without paying admission for the kids. Check the keeper talk schedule when you arrive and plan your wander around a few of these. They’re included with zoo admission and are a great way for kids to learn more about the animals while seeing them up and active.
Adelaide Zoo also offers free guided walking tours departing hourly between 10am and 3pm from the Tour Meeting Point near the main entrance.
And of course, allow some time for the playground. Nature’s Playground is always a winner if the kids need to burn off some energy between animal exhibits.
NEW Wild Explore VR Experience
There’s also something new to check out during your visit.
The Wild Explore VR Experience is now open inside the Panda Shop, with three virtual reality adventures available:
- Dinosaur Evolution
- Dolphins of the Reef
- Gorilla Trek
This experience costs extra and age and safety requirements apply, so check the details at the Panda Shop during your visit.

- The free ticket offer runs from 1 to 31 August 2026.
- Free tickets apply to children aged 4 to 14 years inclusive, with a maximum of three free child tickets per paying adult.
- Children aged three and under are always free but still require a free Cub ticket.
- The offer does not apply to school or OSHC groups, special events, animal experiences or entry to Monarto Safari Park.
- You can book your free children’s tickets in advance or organise them at the admission window when you arrive.
