Beach Explorers

20/01/2023 @ 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM ACDT

$3 – $7.50

Bring your family down to Largs Beach these school holidays and learn all about the amazing things we can find right here on our local beaches.

Join local shell expert and amateur marine biologist, Peter Hunt, on this guided beach combing session.

Explore the tide line and learn more about the things you discover.

This is a fun way to learn about the beach environment through a hands-on experience.

This beach session is suitable for families with children of all ages. Adults and older children will learn so much about our local beach environment, whilst younger children will enjoy exploring the beach.

Please note that children must be accompanied by a guardian and be appropriately supervised at all times.

Adults are also welcome to attend without children, as there is so much all of us can discover and learn about our local environment.

Meeting Spot: Meet in the carpark to the north of the Largs Bay sailing club (on Lady Gowrie Drive, opposite Wigley Street). Please meet 15 minutes before the session starts. We will then wander along the beach towards the Largs Bay Jetty, before returning around 10.30am.

What to bring:

Bring your hats, sunscreen, water bottle and snacks.
We recommend you wear appropriate footwear and clothing to safely explore the beach environment, and dress for the weather.
We will postpone or cancel the event if the weather forecast is over 36 Deg C. We will notify you of this via email and sms.
Numbers are limited, so please let us know if you can no longer make it.

Please contact the Port Environment Centre if you have any mobility or access concerns or other event enquiries (0488 229 925 or email hello@portenvironmentcentre.org.au)
