With a brand-new exhibition for each school term, Children’s Artspace provides a safe space for discussions around important issues and big topics facing the kids of today.
Children’s Artspace is also connecting South Australian children with art experiences all around the world, with online workshops planned with galleries in Hamada, Japan, and New York City, USA. Other galleries and museums around Australia and the world will provide opportunities for fun and engaging learning through play and discovery.
Current Exhibition: Stick together
Legendary local artist Billie Justice Thomson has worked with young people from Prospect North Primary School and Seaview High School to create big, fun, and colourful stickers that explore ideas of ownership and identity.
Billie’s distinct style is loved by many and held in private collections all around the world. Her art practice is a celebration of nostalgia, the imperfection of mark-making, and an appreciation of the everyday. She draws objects from life on paper or makes paintings, often translating these artworks into the digital realm. She is also renowned for reverse glass painting, which is an old technique used by sign writers to decorate shop window displays. Her art is super fun, accessible and a celebration of self, and the things that bring meaning to her life.
In the same way, Stick Together is a collection of things that young people love and that are important to them.
