Paint a voyage in Light! Embark on a journey of light and imagination in the illuminating interactive installation for children and families at ILA Playground.
These summer holidays, step into The Light Room and enter a world of wonder! Sea of Light by Patch Theatre brings together magical light and a gentle soundscape to create a unique adventure for the whole family. With a UV torch as your paintbrush, paint and stencil your own voyage and steer ships that leave glowing paths of light in their wake.
During the installation you will hear music by multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Rob Edwards. The music uses sound to connect to the relationship First Nations people have as Custodians of this land and the flow between the water, earth and sky. Throughout the soundtrack you will hear animals from around Country, recorded by Rob – frogs from Yorta Yorta land, kookaburras on Ngarrindjeri and more. Additionally, the music inspires different elements of nature, transporting you to Country.
Next, make your way through to The Light Room Studio, where 150sqm of LED screens transform into Neon Canvas, a world-first experience created by ILA and the University of Adelaide’s Realities Extended team. Through cutting-edge interactive technology, watch your art come alive—from the digital spray paint in your hands to the vibrant visuals surrounding you
Presented as part of ILA Playground, Sea of Light and Neon Canvas are self-guided experiences – session times commence strictly at the ticketed times and the Sea of Light experience goes for up to 25 minutes. Please note re-entry to Sea of Light is not permitted however you can go between the Neon Canvas experience and The Light Room Bar as often as you like.
