A Revolution Worth Joining: Reading Revolution Panel & Workshops
In a world where screen time dominates many children’s days, St Raphael’s Reading Revolution offers something refreshingly different—the timeless magic of books.
Principal Emma Fowler describes the initiative as more than just a school program—it’s a movement.
“A movement to reclaim reading as the cornerstone of wellbeing and intellectual growth,” she explains.
“Immersing yourself in a book isn’t just an escape; it’s an investment in your mind, your creativity, and your future. We’re here to show families that books are the antidote to screen addiction.”
From 16–20 June, students at St Raphael’s will participate in a school-wide read-a-thon celebrating the joy of reading. The highlight of the week is the Reading Revolution Literacy Panel & Workshops on Thursday, 19 June, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Families are invited to join this special evening featuring leading children’s authors and literacy experts who will share practical, age-specific strategies to support children’s reading development.
While parents and carers attend the panel, children are welcome to enjoy supervised play and storytime sessions in the school library and playground, making it a truly family-friendly event.
