We recently visited The Exeter Hotel at Semaphore while on a mini break at Discovery Parks – Adelaide Beachfront. Another guest at the park had recommended it to me as a great place to take kids for a meal and they were right, it was!
We took advantage of their Kids Eat Free promotion where if you visit between Sunday – Thursday and purchase one adult main meal (lunch or dinner) to receive one kids meal for free and as you can see from the menu below, there’s plenty of options to choose from. Miss 4 ordered some grilled fish and chips to which we added some broccoli from the salad bar and she ate the lot! And because we were on “holiday” she even got a banana split treat, which went down VERY well!
The adults were happy to with our very reasonably priced and large meals and the staff were really really happy and friendly.
The Exeter also has an undercover playground and a games room inside with pinball, pool table and a chocolate machine. Kids will also get an activity sheet, colouring in and some pencils to keep them busy waiting for their meal. This place is worth a try if you’re down that way.
The Exeter is located at 152 Semaphore Rd Exeter, SA, 5019

Uraidla Hotel, simultaneously best and worst pub in Uraidla (that's kind of the joke because it is the ONLY pub in Uraidla), but if you are only going to have one pub in a country town it better be a good one right.....? Well let us tell you.....it is. It definitely is! Only 20 minutes from the city (how lucky are we to have this beauty right on our doorstep), this stunning location was perfect when we popped in to help celebrate a family birthday recently. I mean look at the photos, you can almost smell that clean, crisp country air can't you! The kids loved the spacious outdoor areas complete with outdoor games (Jenga for the win), totem tennis and a nice little playground. There's also a footy oval a few metres away. Food wise Mr 7 highly recommends the kids Meatball Macaroni Bake which at just $12 bucks is spot on value wise. Our older kids were left wishing they were under 12 as well so they could try the chicken bacon parmi, and the macaroni bake with cashew cheese sounds delish - and a nice option for kids who are dairy free or vegan. A nice range…
As we reached the southern Flinders area just near Hawker, we stopped in for lunch at the Cradock Hotel. As a parent who has eaten at hundreds of pubs and restaurants with kids, I will comfortably say this was the best I have ever been too. The nature style playground was amazing, let alone a playground at a pub! Dickie, who has owned the pub for about 3 years, built a lot of it himself and with materials sourced locally from his own property. I found that so cool and from someone who barely has one talent, let alone several, to be able to build that plus run a brilliant pub is really inspiring. As good as the playground is, the large dining room that opens up onto it just really tops it off. The kids can run around while you sit and have a beer (or another type of beer….I didn’t check the wine list sorry) and watch the kids run around. Can’t think of a more nicer pub setting anywhere, let alone in the Flinders. Now the big test. The food. My little food reviewers classed it as ‘The best pub food ever’ which I whole heartedly agreed…
