Josiah Mitton Reserve in Brompton is a lovely open space and great for an afternoon out with something for the whole family. We love that in the same large area there is half court basketball, a full set of fitness equipment and a playground so all the family can do their thing at the same place at the same time.

There is heaps of space for a kick of the footy or any other outdoor games, plus a shelter and a few picnic tables spread around the reserve. For adults or teens there is a great range of gym and fitness equipment situated immediately next to the playground to parents can keep a close eye on the kids playing.

There is also an historic 1930s site – the Reverberatory Incinerator built by Walter Burley Griffin to turn rubbish into useful material for construction. Our kids enjoyed the discussion the old site lead to about ‘the olden days even before Grandma was born!’

Josiah Mitton Reserve includes:

  • Basketball 3 on 3,
  • Fitness equipment ,
  • Bike racks,
  • Historic sites,
  • Picnic Tables,
  • Playground,

  • Find it at: Kooralla Grove, Kidman Park What a great little park this one is. With a fantastic range of play equipment, including some reasonably challenging climbing equipment to a playground with an enclosed twirly slide, this has something for most ages. It even has a heap of outdoor gym equipment but lets be honest, apart from sitting on the ski swingy one, nobody has ever used any of it....or is that just us? No toilets is the only let down here, but it has a BBQ, seating, a mix of toddler and traditional swings, several slides and is a really beautiful spot. There is no fencing but the river is about 100m away and it is in a nice quiet back street so you shouldn't have many issues.
