Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Buy, For Mum, Mother's Day

Mother’s Day 2022 is on May 8 and Mum’s all over Adelaide will hopefully be eating breakfast in bed, wearing macaroni necklaces and treated to some special gifts from their loved ones….

BUT what does Mum REALLY want???

We did a quick whip around the many Mums who are part of the KiA team and below is a list of what’s on our wish list this year. And yes, this might be a very extravagant way for us to drop hints for our own lovely families, but might as well help you AND help ourselves right? A lot of these are local South Australian businesses so you can spoil Mum AND support a small business. Win/Win for everyone!

Wireless Headphones from Skullcandy

Wireless, noise cancelling headphones. Peace and quite and our favourite tunes, audiobook or podcast. THIS is what Mums want.
These Grind Wireless Buds feature Skull-iQ Smart Feature Technology giving Mum Hands-free Voice Control and  absolute authority over audio using only her voice.
Voice Control means you never need to drop what you’re doing. Play, pause, adjust volume, skip tracks, launch Spotify, answer calls, enter Stay-Aware Mode and activate your assistant — all without ever touching your device.

A new bag from Willow Bay

Willow Bay Australia are a female owned, South Australian hand bag brand who specialise in functional fashion and aim to cater to every woman’s differing lifestyles – from gym bags, every day totes, vintage-inspired designs and even a best-selling nappy bag. Their signature and washable neoprene fabric is used throughout most of their bag designs, with other fabrics like vegan leather also used.

If Mum does a lot of travelling the Weekender bag or slightly smaller cabin bags are excellent. The weekender is one of my most favourite and most used bags. It’s the perfect size for plane carry on luggage, or for a weekend away. It fits A LOT, wipes clean, is really strong and it looks great. Or if Mum needs a new laptop bag, we also love their Neoprene laptop bags. You actually can’t go wrong with something from Willow Bay, there’s a bag for everyone here.

Plants, Homewares, Body Care & more from Charlie & Jack

If Mum is a Crazy Indoor Plant Person then Charlie & Jack is the store for her! In fact, owner Kristy founded the C.I.P.P.A Facebook Group for plant lovers & her store is a HAVEN. She also names all of the plants in her store, which means you’ll be giving Mum a plant with personality! Wilma made her way home with us, along with a range of plant care, devine body care, candles & even a puzzle! Charlie & Jack is definitely a one stop shop for Mother’s Day!

You’ll find the store in Victor Harbor or you can grab a e-Gift Card from the website. Our hot tip? Take some of Mum’s indoor plants into Charlie & Jack for their ‘Repotting & Spa Treatment Service’ where they will give your plant a repot, new soil, pest check & leaf shine. How cool!

Follow them on Facebook or Instagram.

Stunning homewares, clothes, jewelry & more from Gypsy Life

Gypsy Life is a gorgeous little store that recently opened right on the beach at Moana and it is absoloutely DREAMY. They have something for all Mums from clothes, bags, purses, body-care, plants, wall art, homewares, jewelry, candles and more. You’ll walk out with the perfect present for Mum and probably a bunch of stuff for yourself as well!

The store is run by two local ladies, Mich and Jo who are passionate about supporting local makers, artists and businesses. Almost every tag or label in the store has “Made In South Australia” (or an even more local region!) on it and the owners know all the stories behind these businesses too. They stock skin care from Romley Estate at Willunga, plant care from Aussie business, We The Wild, earrings from Sun Child at Sellicks Beach, clothes from labels such as Talisman and are the exclusive stockist for the region of knitwear from the slow fashion business, Cienna. And that’s just the start – after a fews laps of the store, you’ll think you’ll seen everything then you’ll suddenly discover a delightful product you hadn’t spotted yet!

If you can’t get to Moana, never fear! They have just launched their online shop or you can follow them on Facebook or Instagram for plenty of gift inspo!

Oh and did we mention they also do Gift Vouchers AND free gift wrapping? Perfect if you’re buying for Mum & she is usually the one who wraps the presents in your house…..

Botanista in Port Noarlunga is the perfect store for Mums of kids or Mums of plants! It’s indoor plant heaven, but it’s also so much more than an indoor plant store!

Yes you can grab everything you need for your indoor plants at Botanista, including pots, plant care and of course plants themselves, but check out the TERRARIUM BAR! Here you can pop in (no bookings needed) and make your own terrarium or have Charlene and her team help you out – it’s so much fun and doubles as both an activity for Mum AND a gift for Mum. Botanista also has DIY Terrarium Kits to take home as well as Kokedama Kits. We feel a new hobby coming on…

It’s doesn’t stop there though! They also stock tea, soaps, misters, propagation stations and HEAPS more – plus they do Gift Vouchers if the choice is just too overwhelming! Treat Mum to some rest and relaxation

A very popular choice from the KiA Mums was a voucher for a massage, float or pamper session. Maybe a voucher from Endota, a facial from Bliss Beauty and Float, or just a 60 min full body massage from her favourite place. It might take her 12 months to find the time to redeem it but just knowing that an hour or two of alone time is ready and waiting whenever she needs it is a gift in itself.
