Regional towns often have great playgrounds and the playspace in Moonta is no exception. This playground is looking its age, but it still does the job!
There’s something for all ages here – little kids will love the sandpit and some of the toddler play equipment, kids tall enough will love the monkey bars and flying fox and older kids will enjoy the basketball half court – just remember to take a ball!
This playground also has a bike track complete with traffic signs and road markings! Perfect for kids learning to ride, as it’s nice and flat. There are also a couple of swing sets so you don’t need to worry about arguments over whose turn it is!
The trees give plenty of shade, but there is also a bit shaded verandah area with tables – you could really set yourself up for the day here! At the time of our visit (April 2023), new toilets were being installed which will be a great upgrade. There is also a maze – this was roped off during out visit but we are assuming it’s because it is right next door to where the building work is happening.
Polgreen Park is just down the road from Taste The Yorke, so why not grab a coffee and some treats before heading over? Or on a hot day, let the kids work up a sweat on the playground, then take the short drive to Splash Town to cool off!
Trains! Kids LOVE trains and they will love being able to ride on the miniature railway while you're visiting Kadina. The miniature railway is scheduled to run twice a month, on their handmade track, on the grounds around the Copper Coast Visitor Information Centre at 50 Mines Rd Kadina. The trains generally operate from 10am to 3pm (with last trains leaving from 2.30pm) on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month apart from twilight Saturday runs in January. At $3 per person per ride, it is suitable for all ages. (What a bargain!) Covered footwear is required. Latest updates can be found at https://www.facebook.com/ccromeinc/ The Miniature Railway is run by the Copper Coast Old Engineering and Machinery Club - thanks for providing this great attraction! So you are at the Copper Coast Tourism Centre, you have done the other activities and are tired, just wanting to sit down. But your kids, running on some sort of mega energy, just want to keep going. The Copper Coast Information Centre have got you covered again. Next to the gift shop you will stumble into a huge indoor play cafe, catering for all ages with an area for the toddlers and a larger playground for the big kids. With slides, interactive ball activities, ride on toys and with all equipment in really good condition (seriously, there is nothing worse than a play cafe that is falling apart and plain gross) this is a great way to top off your visit. Let the kids run around and sit down to a cold drink, treat or an ice cream. Relax - you deserve it after all the sightseeing you've been doing! Things to note:Kids must wear socks. It's a good idea for adults to bring them also. (Socks are available for purchase at the Play Centre). Water is able to be brought in to the centre but not other food or drink. Baby food and special dietary foods are an…
The Copper Coast Tourism Centre at Kadina offers a really impressive putt putt course which will get those family competitive juices flowing. As someone who takes putt putt quite seriously, I was very impressed with the quality of the course and the variety of challenging holes. This was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday! Sometimes putt putt can be a little on the lower end on the fun scale if the place isn’t up to scratch, but with a large selection of different sized clubs, heaps of different coloured bright balls and a quality course that has holes styled on the Copper Coast region, the whole fam will love this one. Except if you are competitive and don’t win. Maybe then you won’t like it. But for everyone else, its a ripper. Allow about an hour to cruise around this fun course as part of your stay at the visitors centre, and for only $5 bucks each it is a bargain. You may or may not get a hole in one (I did) or beat your family comfortably (like me) but you will have a good time. Pro Tip: Take some water and don’t forget the sun cream.…
