Illuminate Renmark: In Depth
Monash Playground
Most of us oldies will remember Monash Playground from when we were kids. Back in the 80s and 90s it looked a bit like this.. It was EPIC! (and also terrifying)
It doesn’t look like that anymore but it’s still one of S.A’s most loved playgrounds and definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in the Riverland or passing through.
There’s something for all ages at this park. Toddlers will love the and older kids will go crazy for the adventure equipment including big leaning towers, rope bridge, wave bridge, flying fox, see saws, slides, mega swings and even a maze! There’s also some accessible equipment including a liberty swing. And if that’s not enough, in late 2019 they went and added even more equipment including a new Tree House, inclusive Swing Set and get giddy on the Merry-Go-Round!
Kids Tasting Platter at Banrock Station
Kids don’t miss out on the fun at Banrock Station either with their kid’s tasting paddle. Shots of juice, milk paired with pretzels, marshmallows and a chocolate freckle. Yum!
Waikerie Water and Nature Play Park
The park is in a beautiful location right on the riverfront. There’s plenty of natural shade from the big trees surrounding the area and lots of space to run around, kick a ball or set up a picnic spot for the day.
One of the most popular area of the park is the water play area which is great on a hot day, but remember to bring a change of clothes!
Picnic at Lock 3
In 1920 a series of locks and weirs were installed along the Murray to divert water to the emerging agriculture industry and improve navigation of boats along the river. There are six locks in the Riverland. Lock 3 at Overland Corner has a big beautiful grasses area to sit and enjoy a picnic as you watch the boats pass through.

Woolshed Brewery at Wilkadene
Gees this is such a beautiful spot for a meal with a great nature play area for kids to play in while you relax. Boof, the dog is also very friendly and great entertainment. There’s a food truck most weekends, it was Thai for us. The tasting paddles are good value for us adults and the hard lemonade and pink lemonade are
Waikerie Silo
The dramatic cliffs of Waikerie have long been popular with houseboaters and other tourists and Riverland and house boaters are able to enjoy the artwork when they are on the river. The silos showcase artworks on both sides, which can be seen from within the town and the River Murray. The Waikerie Silos Art Mural project aims to create a stunning local attraction that reflects the theme “Healthy River, Healthy Community”
Morgan Rail to River Playground
We love a themed playground. Anything with a train is pretty much a certain winner with most kids, so a playground with a train AND a paddle steamer to climb in and on is double the fun!
Overland Corner Hotel
This is a great eats option for for families, always lots of school holiday activities including bouncy castle and petting zoo and live entertainment every weekend. It also has a FREE caravan parking and camping at the rear of the venue, yes FREE!
