In 2023, Port Adelaide Enfield Council have opened this fabulous $400,000 playground at Semaphore South foreshore. The beauty of this one is the consultation phase invited local kids to draw what they wanted to see in the new playground, with some of the entries inspiring the boat themed elements! How great is that.
Don’t forget to check out the fabulous Shelly’s Kiosk right on the door step which opened in late 2024. Great food. Great coffee and fullly focussed on catering for families which we love. Read all about our visit here.
With plenty of equipment to satisfy even the most avid climbers, but also catering for the real young ones (and its fully fenced!), this is a fantastic alternative to the busy main foreshore precinct. Shaded, fully fenced and with a toilet, this is the perfect summer playground in our opinion.
The awesome Point Malcolm Reserve playground is on Military Road, Semaphore. This one million dollar project was funded by State Government and City of Charles Sturt Council (who are continuing to impress with their amazing open space developments). It's located in one of the most popular destinations of Adelaide - Sensational Semaphore! Perfect for summer, with the beach a stones throw away, it's a double date of fun for the family. Things I loved about this playground Location! Location! Location! Situated walking distance to the beach (100m) - this is sometimes a rarity so double the fun in one play date Easy parking nearby Mix of activities for young and older kids including nature play, basketball courts, advanced climbing equipment and lots of grass areas, BBQ spaces, space for picnics Landscaping was fantastic for all inclusive environment Awesome playground features include Giant Slide Big Musical Instruments Swings Two mini in-ground trampolines Sand pit Great toddler playground Two Flying Foxes (best for 5+ as they have a decent bump on the end of them so little hands need to be able to hang on!) Shelly's Kiosk is a light, bright and vibrant beachside 'must-visit' for Adelaide families seeking a quality bite to eat with a side of beach adventure. With a very deliberate focus on feeding kids well, the beautifully restored venue has held on to glimpses of 'Noonies' from days gone by. You can now enjoy the hospitality here seven days a week from 7am right through to an evening meal or sunset cocktail! We are so thrilled to see what was always an iconic part of the Semaphore community redeveloped and reopen, and right in time for summer! Just metres away from the bustling upgraded Semaphore South playground and the iconic Semaphore Steam Train (which runs on every Sunday + public holidays in October to April + daily in school holidays October to April except Tuesdays and Thursdays). This place really does have it all going on. This charming kiosk serves as the perfect pit stop for both kids and parents. With the sound of waves lapping nearby and the smell of fresh sea air and coffee, it’s a great place to kick off your day with some morning caffeine and a play, or an inviting spot to refuel after a day…
