Stirling Library – a lovely place to escape

The Coventry Library in Stirling has a special place in my heart. I can remember lounging in the sunken reading nook listening to the librarian and visiting authors read, and becoming completely immersed in the story. Later, I recall getting my own borrowing card and scouring the shelves for books I thought I’d like to read…. Judy Blume, The Babysitter’s Club, Roald Dahl….I couldn’t get enough! I can even remember the enjoyment and novelty of searching for books using the computers and the AMAZING Dewey Decimal System. God, I really loved old Dewey. Anyone else with me here?

Anyway, since I’m now a bit (MUCH!) older, things have apparently changed! The Coventry library is now brand spanking new and is absolutely beautiful. It’s well-resourced, friendly, open and interactive. I actually want to live there. I have been known to pop across there before meeting friends at the Stirling Hotel to play a bit of GIANT Connect-4. Yes, that’s right. GIANT. Noone loves a giant kids game more than me.

There’s also a large park area right outside the library that is bordered by magnificent, huge trees providing plenty of shade. A rotunda also provides shelter if the Hills weather turns up to greet you.
