If you are road tripping with kids to the states Mid North, over to the Eyre Peninsula or even up to the Flinders Rangers, here’s a fantastic FREE and fun activity that made a great break for us. Climb the West Side Water Tower at Port Augusta!
Imagine this a road trip break that stops the kids from arguing, and is fun enought that they are happy to put their devices down for a half an hour and actually take in the environment that surrounds them.
A quick climb up (no ticket needed, it’s free) and you’re greeted by a spectacular view of Spencer Gulf. The kids stop fighting. The view (and breeze at the top) are so good.
Located in a little secret garden gem – we really didn’t expect to find this oasis in this town. Find it at Mitchell Terrace, Port Augusta West.
Now, who’s turn was it to sit in the front sear again?
Righto Adelaide families, fuel up the car and pack all of the snacks because some days simply call for a little South Australian road trip into our regions to see some BIG THINGS with the kids! Roam Sweet Roam are a family traveling Australia with our 3 year old son Banjo, looking to expand our minds and explore our amazing country. After 3 magical months in South Australia, here are our top three tips and pics for family friendly camping on the Eyre Peninsula. #3 Lipson Cove Driving into Lipson Cove is a photographers dream, and for $10/ night, this is an eye popping camp site. Just 24km out of Tumby Bay, this gem of a beach has white sand, crystal clear water and a bird rookery, on the island that makes up the cove. An unforgettable spot for fishing snorkelling and canoeing ???? in the calm waters. Lipson Cove, not far from Tumby Bay #2 Yangie Bay at Coffin Bay National Park Coffin Bay National Park is a pristine corner of the world. For $12/night, we stayed at the Yangie Bay campground looking over shallow Little Yangie Bay. This is a great base camp for 4wd day trips and a short drive from the postcard village of Coffin Bay.Whilst there we enjoyed walks on beautiful Almonta Beach, where Banjo played with a curious sealion pup frolicking in the shallows. From our campsite we launched our canoe…
The world famous Flinders Ranges just has to be on everyone’s bucket list. We did the driving, spoke to locals, drove the tracks, spotted all the wildlife, broke up all the back seat kid fights to bring you what we think is the best of the best of the Flinders. The Flinders region is massive. It is so daunting to look at it and wonder where to even start. I have broken it up into southern, middle and northern, because the drive from the southern flinders to the north can be several hours! We stayed 3 nights. One night each in the south, north and middle. We found this worked really well and allowed us to see as much of the entire region as possible, with travel between accomodation doubling as exploring time! Our Itinerary.…because we found it hard to know where to start when planning our own trip! Flinders Ranges Itinerary - Day 1 The drive for us from Adelaide to Bendleby was about 4 hours. Pack snacks. Lots of snacks and plan a stop or 2. We stopped at Clare which was about half way, which was the ideal coffee stop. Allow plenty of time for stops and…
Wife of a FIFO miner, but don't let that define her. Mum of two jetty jumping brats aged tween and teen (who live on fresh air, saltwater and attitude). Bare feet not heels. Hats not hair styles. Beaches not bars. Food over fashion. If you can't find her she's likely 'home' on the Yorke Peninsula.
