What is a Yoto Player?

Think of it as the ultimate multitasker for kids. The Yoto Player is:

The biggest difference is pretty simple. The full-size Yoto Player is designed for home life, while the Yoto Mini is made for adventures on the go. If you're after something to become part of your child's bedtime routine, the full-size Player is a great choice. If you want something to throw in the car, pack for holidays or take to Grandma's house, the Mini is hard to beat.

Meet the Yoto Mini 4th Gen

If you love everything about the Yoto Player but wish you could take it everywhere, meet its little sibling!

The Yoto Mini 4th Gen takes all the screen-free audio goodness of the full-size player and puts it into a much smaller, portable package.

It's designed for little hands and busy families, making it a great option for car trips, holidays, sleepovers, weekends away or simply listening to stories while you're out and about.

We're particularly looking forward to using ours on road trips and family holidays. Anything that keeps the kids entertained without adding another screen to the mix gets a big tick from us!

Our Favourite Yoto Features

1. Customisable Cards

Whether you choose the full-size Player or the Mini, there are plenty of clever features to love.

Make your own cards filled with favourite songs, audiobooks or even voice recordings. Imagine your child listening to a bedtime story read by Nanna, even when she's not there.

You can upload your own audio through the Yoto App and link it to a Make Your Own card. It's also a lovely way to create personalised birthday messages, family stories or playlists.

2. Kid-Led Control

No swiping, no scrolling, no screens.

Kids pop in a card and decide what they want to hear, giving them independence while keeping things simple and safe. The large dials make it easy for little hands to adjust the volume and skip tracks.

3. The Green Button

This is one of the biggest new features across the 4th Gen Yoto range.

Parents can use the free Yoto App to create personalised playlists of up to 20 favourite audio titles for daytime and nighttime listening. Kids can then twist and press the Green Button to access their favourites without needing to find and insert a card.

Think favourite bedtime stories, morning music, podcasts, sleep sounds or even a toothbrush timer.

It's a simple little feature that makes it even easier for kids to use their Yoto independently.

4. Soothing Sleep Support

Bedtime has never been easier thanks to white noise, gentle sounds and stories that help kids wind down naturally. The full-size Yoto Player has an extra advantage here, with its built-in night light and Ok-to-Wake clock. You can use the light to create a calming bedtime environment and help little ones understand when it's time to get up in the morning.

The Mini doesn't have a built-in night light, but it can still play all those lovely calming sounds and bedtime stories.

5. Portable Fun

The full-size Yoto Player is easy to move from room to room, and the Mini takes portability to another level.

With up to 12 hours of battery life, the Mini is made for car trips, holidays and adventures. Its water and dust-resistant design is also a welcome addition for families with kids who aren't always the most careful with their belongings!

What About Yoto Cards? Do They Work With Both Players?

Yes! One of the best things about the Yoto ecosystem is that you don't need to buy a completely new collection of cards if you decide to add another player to the family. Almost all Yoto Cards work with both the Yoto Player 4th Gen and Yoto Mini 4th Gen.

You simply insert the card into the top of the player and the audio starts playing. The first time you play a card, your player needs to be connected to Wi-Fi so the audio can download. After that, downloaded content can be enjoyed offline.

There are thousands of titles available, including stories, music, podcasts, educational content and plenty of familiar favourites and special releases.

Can You Use Yoto Without Wi-Fi?

Yes! Once audio has been downloaded onto your player, you can listen offline.

This is particularly handy for the Mini if you're heading off on a road trip, flying somewhere or going somewhere without reliable internet. Just make sure you've downloaded the content you want before leaving home.

Which Yoto Should You Buy?

We're big fans of Yoto. We've used our full-size Yoto Player almost every single day since we got it. Mornings feel more fun, evenings are definitely calmer, and it's something the kids genuinely love using.

The addition of the Yoto Mini will really come in handy, particularly for travelling, sleep overs or long car trips.

The full-size Player is the best all-rounder for home, particularly if bedtime routines and the night light are important to you. But if you're a family that travels a lot, spends plenty of time in the car or wants something kids can easily take with them, the Mini is a fantastic option. And if you can stretch to both, even better!
