Caravan Parks sure have come a long way from when I was a kid.

Jumping pillows, pools, playgrounds right up to massive waterparks, putt putt and pump tracks. Some of these parks go over and above when it comes to family friendly making them a fantastic family holiday option all within a drive from home.

We’re lucky to have stayed at some of S.A’s best caravan parks and here’s our top 10.

Victor Harbor Holiday Park

Just over and hours drive from Adelaide and right in the heart of Victor Harbor this park has so many family friendly facilities you’ll have no problems keeping the kids busy while you’re here. Jumping pillow, pools, playground, mini golf, pump track (BYO bikes and scooter) and an epic dual tower waterslide! They also run a free school holiday program of activities, regular outdoor movies, bikes and gokarts for hire and they even have their own onsite takeaway shop!

There’s cabin and site accommodation to suit all family sizes and budgets including 3 bedroom cabins that sleep up to 8 to an unpowered camping site for less than 30 bucks a night.

Port Broughton Tourist Park

Located right on the beach at the beautiful Port Broughton, we absolutely loved our stay at the tourist park.

Their brand new 9 hole mini golf course has already been a huge hit and also NOW OPEN (as of September 2020) their EPIC waterslide/splash park!! With 2 waterslides, tipping buckets, ground sprays and interactive pieces. Add to that a swimming pool, pump track (BYO bikes and scooters), ninja playground, pedal kart hire and free school holiday activities this really is one of the best family holiday spots in S.A

With a range of updated and modern cabins including brand new 3 bedroom cabins, plenty of large, grassy camping and powered and ensuite caravan sites there are options for all family sizes and budgets.

Brighton Holiday Park

Talk about absolute beachfront!  Set right on the beach down at Kingston Park, if you can take your eyes off the view for a moment you will discover a fantastic family focussed holiday park.

With gokart hire, bike hire, a fab fenced playground, an arcade computer games room, miles of walking trails (Esplanade…hello!!!) and holiday programs for kids, you and your fam won’t want to leave.

There are a range of cabins to suit even the biggest families, or pick your spot with a campsite. Whatever your choice, this is a great spot to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the shopping and eateries at the nearby Jetty Road at Brighton.

Wallaroo Beachfront Tourist Park

If you are looking for accommodation on the Copper Coast that is clean, quiet and in a GREAT location, look no further than the Wallaroo Beachfront Tourist Park.

This is a fabulous caravan park, located only a two minute walk from the Wallaroo Jetty and is super close to cafes, playgrounds and shops. It is only small, so doesn’t have the noise, mess and hustle and bustle of other caravan parks – you’ll truly get to relax here. All of the caravan and tent sites are grassed too, so you don’t need to worry about getting dirt and gravel everywhere.

If you don’t have a tent or caravan, they have a huge range of cabins to suit all group sizes and budgets – some are on the beachfront with STUNNING views!

The Park has some great facilities including a jumping pillow, fish cleaning, camp kitchen and laundry.

Right in front of the Park is Office Beach – it has shade and looks out to the jetty so you can play on the beach with the kids or just relax while you watch the boats coming in and out.

Port Broughton Tourist Park

You might want to put Port Broughton in your family travel plans! It’s the latest holiday/caravan park to go ULTRA family friendly and we went to check it out. Located right on the beach at the beautiful Port Broughton, we absolutely loved our stay at this park with the absolute standout being their brand new in 2020 waterslides, water park and mini golf!

With a range of updated and modern cabins plenty of large, grassy camping and waterfront powered sites and ensuite sites with it really offers something all family sizes and budgets. We stayed in a Bayview Villa on this trip and there is just something quite brilliant to waking up with the kids, grabbing the kite or a footy and running down onto the beach to have a play each morning. Or just sit and have a coffee and enjoy the view.

Marion Holiday Park

If you’ve never thought of a holiday park in terms of beautiful accommodation, then think again! The quality offered can be compared with an exclusive resort overseas and the value you get you would be paying big bucks for overseas at a fraction of the cost in your backyard.

Discovery Lake Bonney

If water sports are your thing, it is hard to go past what Lake Bonney has to offer. Located in Barmera, around 3 hours drive from Adelaide, the park has total waterfront frontage and access to the freshwater lake. So what will it be? Swimming, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, jet skiing, boating and fishing are all on offer a mere few steps from your cabin door!

Besides the lake activities, the kids will love the playground, pump track, jumping pillow and the splash water park! Accommodation is well and truly sorted here too with a range of cabins and camp sites, plenty with cracking views of the lake to boot.

Woodhouse Adventure Park

Camping spots don’t get much more family friendly than Woodhouse Adventure Park! Most of you have probably spent a day there either as a kid or with your own family, sliding down the tube slides, tackling Challenge Hill, playing disc golf or taking on the Labryinth. But have you ever camped there? Make a weekend (or even longer!) of it and book to stay in your tent or caravan near one of the Base Camps. Your camping fee includes all Woodhouse Activities, so it’s really great value and not too far, situated in Piccadilly just up the Freeway. (Plus, did we mention campfires in winter……yesss!)

Belair National Park Holiday Park

This one is only 11kms from Adelaide and it set in the picturesque Belair National Park.

The kids will love the pool, disc golf and playground, with plenty of cabins, eco-tents and camping sites to choose from.
There’s plenty of trails and mountain bikes tracks suited to all ages and levels – the family could spend days exploring, looking for koalas, emus, kangaroos or the odd echidna.

Levi Adelaide Holiday Park

Perfect for a stay-cation, being a tourist in your own town or just when you don’t want to drive all the way home after an event in the city, Levi Adelaide Holiday Park is only 4kms from the CBD and set on the banks of the River Torrens.

They have plenty of cabins and campsites to choose from and also boast a pool, playground and huge oval next door. Take a stroll along Linear Park and don’t forget to keep an eye out for koalas and other wildlife. You won’t believe you are so close to Adelaide!

Attention sporting lovers, or just people who love beating their family at all the sports, we have found your park. Located in the middle of the West Beach entertainment area, think Mini-Golf, driving range, skate park, The Pat golf course and West Beach Adventure climbing adventure park, you can do all this within a 5 minute walk of your cabin or campsite!

Don’t forget over 1km of beautiful SA coastline that the park fronts, as well as plenty of in-park activities for the kids, it is not hard to see why this is such an SA family favourite.

BIG4 Renmark Riverfront

Talk about a park with it all! The kids won’t know where to start at this park located on the mighty Murray River, about 3 hours from the city. Make sure you allow time to try everything they offer, with fun little water boats for the river, a huge splash water park, swimming pools, games rooms, go kart hire and much, much more!

The parents can relax with a spot of fishing on the river, while the kids go nuts. The accomodation is just what the Doctor ordered, with a range of large modern cabins, most with raised decking areas to sit and watch the world go by on your trip away.

Oh and thats just within the park! You also have the world of the Riverland right outside your cabin to explore.

Beachside Holiday Park Normanville

This is one fantastic water splash park! Located about 90 minutes south of the city, smack bang in the heart of the Fleurieu, Normanville is perfectly placed to launch you into an adventure along some of our most beautiful coastline.

Hit the Links at Lady Bay, saddle up for a beach horse ride along the never-ending sands of Normy and Carrickalinga, or stay and explore the park with games rooms,  playgrounds and a world of room to ride the bikes and scooters.

Your accomodation is well looked after as you would expect, with cabins to suit all families and campsites too. Feel free to use the excellent BBQ facilities and fish cleaning areas too, because what would a trip to Normy be without a visit to the beautiful jetty for a spot of fishing.
