Located in stunning Edithburgh on the Southern Yorke Peninsula just a comfy two and a half hour drive from Adelaide (minus toilet stops. ALL the toilet stops) and smack bang on the Esplanade in prime position in front of the jetty. These are the perfect apartments to base yourself for a trip through Yorkes. It’s also just a hop skip and a jump over the road to the famous Edithburgh Tidal Pool too!
The accommodation here is just what you need, with modern and updated decor and styling, and all the amenities you need when you come home after a big day of exploring. With 2 bedrooms, featuring a queen bed in one plus 2x singles, this will comfortably fit a family of 4. The bathroom was nice and modern, the kitchen had all the kitchen things you would expect and there is a laundry room at the back of the property as well. We did find the beds a tad short for those taller folk, but overall it is sensational value for money and an ideal spot to rest your head.
We loved the huge grassed area at the back of the property, which is perfect for the kids to run around and kick they footy, but having the fabulous Edithburgh foreshore greet you as the open your front door was just spectacular. Make sure you check out the jetty across the road or do what we did and follow the ‘Walk the Yorke’ trail for a few km’s for the ideal morning stroll.
There is room for your boat, and you are adjacent the all weather modern boat ramp facilities + yep, there are fish cleaning facilities on site too.
This place has to be our top pick for a wonderful affordable Yorkes stay.
If you are like us, then the first thing you do when you arrive at a small town for a regional retreat is work out the best place for coffee and food. Edithburgh is a small little place, which is part of the charm just quietly, but they are lucky enough to have a fantastic little cafe which is just lovely. Located in the heart of Edithburgh (you can't miss it on your morning walk), you can take your pick from a large under cover area, indoor seating or even out on the grass if the weather is nice enough. Full of coastal town charm, the friendly staff will have you covered for a good quality meal at very budget friendly prices. Plenty on the menu too for the kids, so even the fussiest little eaters will be looked after. We really liked our brunch here, finding it a really relaxing environment to enjoy a good quality meal, with our little mate having a lot of room to explore after he smashed down his breakfast. Open Wednesday til Sunday, from 9am til 8pm, this will sort of become the one stop shop for your morning coffee and family meals during…
Right across the road from the Minlaton Caravan Park and the Minlaton Playground is the HJ & Brian Cook Native Animal Reserve. You can’t go inside, but take the kids for a walk around the perimeter to have a look at the emus, wallabies and birdlife. There are a few shady seats around the outside for you to sit and watch the animals. The emus were as curious about us as we were about them and followed us the whole way around! When we visited, there were tiny emu chicks which were just adorable! The wallabies were harder to spot but it was lovely seeing them in such a natural habitat eating and cleaning themselves or sunning themselves. For a free bit of entertainment, we think this is a great way to spend half an hour while you are on the Yorke Peninsula! Find it on Spencer Hwy, Minlaton
Every night once the sun goes down, the silos at Wallaroo come alive with a light show for the whole family! So grab the kids, jump in the car and park down by the Jetty to enjoy the show. The show starts at different times throughout the year, depending on daylight saving. You can check out the start times and info via the Copper Coast Visitor Information website. There is also different themes for the light show throughout the year, so even if you have been once, make sure you go back again on your next trip for the latest show. Mostly the themes centre around the history, attractions and events in the area. You can tune your car radio to the station as shown on the silo to get the full soundtrack as well - just like at the drive ins!
