Voyage Installation at Adelaide Zoo

Voyage: Experience the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings of Southeast Asia

If you visit the Adelaide Zoo over the summer school holidays pop into the Plane Tree Centre (just outside the entrance) on your way in or your way out for this stunning digital installation bringing to life a selection of botanical and zoological watercolours from the National Museum of Singapore’s William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings.

The collected works are animated in a flurry of paint splashes, morphing into surreal environments where vibrant plant and animal life flourish, highlighting the interconnectedness of Southeast Asian environments, the same wild spaces that some of the zoo’s most loved residents call home.

And before you think it’s not for kids my 11 and 5 year olds sat and watched it four times in a row. They were mesmerised!

Open 10am – 3pm excluding Mondays with a Relaxed hour with reduced sound and number of people every Wednesday afternoon from 2 – 3pm.
There is also a Social Story to help children with autism understand what a visit to Voyage might be like!
