Illuminate Adelaide is a newly announced major winter festival that will run for the first time over two weeks in July 2021, with the hope of becoming an international draw card for our fine city every winter. Confirmed across 2 weeks (and 3 weekends) Illuminate Adelaide will light up our city from 16th of July through to 1st of August.

Supported by the company behind WOMAD and our State Government and set to be curated by the local and knowingly talented Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberldge, we should expect nothing but the highest quality light and art installations through out the Adelaide city streets buildings and laneways. Think North Terrace in years gone by over the Fringe Festival on steroids, with music, dance performances and other immersive technologies.

Adelaide has summer events nailed and at a capacity for our personal calendars. How good it is to see investment in the arts in a month that is not already ‘mad’? Our reputation as the ‘festival state’ does fall down a bit over the winter months.

Wondering what’s in store? Well we can tell you it’s sure to be an epic event! There will be a mix of free events as well as ticketed ones. The ticketed events will sell out quickly so we’d suggest jumping and booking ASAP.

  • I. LOVE. MARKETS! I've been on both sides of the market stall, and I am a big fan. Give me a fresh juice, some live music, and some cheese samples and I will come a running. Here in Adelaide we are so lucky to have so many fantastic markets to choose from so we've gathered up the ones we know about and added them all to this page. It's updated constantly with new markets added all the time so make sure you check back each weekend to find out where your local market is, or discover a new Adelaide market to check out this weekend!
