Every July, Illuminate Adelaide gathers the most exceptional and audacious art, music, technology, and innovation from all over Australia and the world and unleashes them across the city and the state.

Between June 28 and July 30, South Australia’s most favourite winter festival transforms Adelaide’s streetscapes and notable locations into a beacon, a call to action, and a city-wide spectacle challenging you to break free from the winter blues and reignite a sense of awe. Illuminate invites people from all walks of life to enjoy a variety of free and ticketed events by local, national, and international artists, aiming to keep people engaged, and connected. It’s about seizing the opportunity to turn long winter nights into a chance to awaken the imagination, explore curiosity and create lasting memories.

The creators of the immensely popular Light Cycles, Moment Factory, have returned to Adelaide Botanic Garden to create another mesmerising transformation of this iconic location. Their brand new show, Resonate has six installations along a new nighttime trail through the garden. They will once again use their signature blend of light, technology, and original soundscapes to encourage a deep connection with the environment.

City Lights, the free city-wide centre-piece is also back for 2023 with an all new series of installations to discover packed with open-air artworks, interactive sculptures, and boundary-pushing experiments from the world’s most innovative artists. This year promises to be the brightest City Lights yet.

After two hit sell-out seasons in 2021 and 2022, Light Creatures is set to return to Adelaide Zoo from 29 June – 23 July. Step through the gate after dark to experience a mesmerising and immersive tribute to the natural world. You’ll be meeting new species of larger-than-life characters and interactive installations, alongside your favourites.

It's updated constantly with new markets added all the time so make sure you check back each weekend to find out where your local market is, or discover a new Adelaide market to check out this weekend!
