This nice little spot in Greenwith is such a peaceful spot, which has also just been upgraded with some nature play to accompany the existing playground equipment. It isn’t huge, but sometimes that is just what the Doctor ordered! A bench and some shade is just about With lovely shade from the trees covering the playground, allowing the kids to play (and not get burnt!) with swings, slides and climbing equipment. There is also a nicely sized patch of grass which is great for a kick of the footy, a picnic or just randomly run around like you are being chased by bees.
No toilets, BBQs, or water fountains and be careful of the nearby lake with the little kids (which may also collect stray footys and frisbees!)
Find it at: Military Road, Henley Beach A lovely little fenced off local toddler playground nestled in the beach side suburb of Henley Beach. This playground has nice modern equipment including lots of climbing steps , a tunnel for the kids to crawl through , a groovy little slippery dip, some bouncy animal pieces and a swing set. Our favourites would be the little merry go round along with the trampoline in the ground ( its pretty cool). Don't worry it has lots of squishy protection around the outside just in case the kids bounce off . The park is surrounded by a lovely grass area and has lots of trees for the kids to play amongst. Centred in the middle of the reserve is a picnic table with shelter but unfortunately this park doesn't have a BBQ,toilets or shade. In need of food or coffee? There are lots of options in Henley Beach with either a stop at Henley Sq beforehand or Yankee Café or Dulwich Bakery are both on Henley Beach Road and not far from the reserve.
Find it at: Rugby Street, Malvern Tucked away is this cute Elephant themed nature play space, complete with sandpit, wooden and metal musical instruments to play and a whole lot more to explore! (Can't ruin all the surprises can we). There is a lot of climbing equipment which the kid will love, slides, balancing equipment and don't forget the basketball too with courts here as well. (located at the school, so after hours use only). No toilets here sadly unless the school toilets are open, but there is some shade and plenty of lovely trees.
This local playground /park is suitable for a mixture of age groups however the play equipment only caters for toddlers. The equipment features a small swing set including baby swing, 2 small slippery dips , a swinging hammock , climbing area and a couple of small play equipment. Half the area is covered by shade .What is great about this park/reserve is that the play equipment area is fenced off, has a good size grassed area and a half key basketball court. Within this area you also have the use of toilets and BBQ facilities. What I also like about this park is that outside the fenced playground area you also have the use of tennis courts and for the pooch lovers there is a huge dog park /sports field. It even has off street parking. Why not bring the family, put a sausage on the BBQ, have a hit of tennis or try for a slam dunk on the basketball key whilst you also get to keep the pooch happy at the dog park. In need of a coffee on the way you either have OTR service station on the corner of Diagonal and Oaklands Road ( probably not…
