We love a family friendly craft brewery and Shapeshifter Brewing Co in Adelaide’s west, just off of Grange Road, is an absolute gem. Offering up to twelve (rotating) tasty brews on tap in a funky, partially industrial, modern, arty taproom, they’ve honestly got every one in the family covered from the kids to the dog.

Shapeshifter Brewing have only been in the Findon digs for a little under two years, however it’s possible you have seen their beers around prior this time when they were brewing out of Big Shed.

We absolutely encourage you to grab some family friends and park up here for a couple of hours. Leave the devices and distractions of home behind and dig into some quality time with a card game, board game or sit at at nearby table and let the kids play in the cutest new addition, a cubby house and corner with chalkboards and toys. (Best paired with a beer paddle).

Our visit made for such an easy catch up, no one was left with a messy house, no one had to shop or cater and the kids were happy as Larry playing retro arcade games, pinball, Jenga, Uno and obviously bombing around the cubby house.

The non beer lovers (who even are you?) there is a great range of SA wines and gins as well as a coffee machine, so you haven’t been forgotten about. AT the time of our visit I was mid way through Dry July – and was stoked when Ryan suggested a zero alcohol crafty! While it wasn’t on tap, it was South Australian and delicious.

Give Shapeshifter Brewing Co. a follow on Facebook or Instagram to keep up to date with rotating taps, food vans and acoustic music (on Sundays).

A few last things before we leave you to share this with your mates and all immediately book tables ha ha……

Your well behaved dogs are welcome here. They can even get a free treat from the bar and there’s a fancy water bowl dispenser for them (dogs thirst matters).

Highchairs are available for the little people who haven’t yet built their own core stability, and clean change facilities are also provided for these same bubbas.

Keep local businesses like this in mind this Fathers Day, there is a huge range of cool merch like beanies, socks and hoodies for sale here. They also offer a really reasonable flat rate delivery fee for online beer orders.

Hats off Shapeshifter, this ticks a lot more family friendly boxes than most breweries, and we see a few!

We are talking good quality venues, where the parents can responsibly enjoy a drink or two, while the kids are well and truly catered for with some fabuluos facilities. • O’Leary Walker Wines is just under two hours from Adelaide, set in the picturesque little town of Leasingham, a peaceful pocket of the Clare Valley that you’ll reach before you even hit the buzz of Clare township. This region is one of South Australia’s most charming wine destinations, with rolling hills, quiet country roads, and some of the best Rieslings in the state. O’Leary Walker is the perfect place to stop, slow down, enjoy incredible wine, and make a day of it with the whole family. We’ve visited plenty of family-friendly spots across South Australia, but O’Leary Walker genuinely stands out. The reasons could fill a whole post, but here are our top two. First, the space. The lawn is huge, lush, and perfect for kids to run, kick a ball, or just go a little wild while you relax with a glass of wine. There are lawn games like Cornhole and giant Jenga, and the views across the rolling hills are so gorgeous you’ll find yourself lingering long after the kids are done playing. Bring a picnic rug, take a deep breath, and just enjoy the moment. Second, the kids’ experience. The Children’s Tasting Platter ($10) is fun and…

  • A South Australian icon for more than 55 years, the Pancake Kitchen always makes me nostalgic for my childhood. It was so exciting to head to that nook of Gilbert St & be allowed to eat pancakes for dinner! I can still smell the maple syrup & remember looking at the menu wondering who on earth would eat bacon on pancakes (adult me, that's who). Does anyone else remember the jukebox out in the back room? The original Spotify! It may have changed a bit since then, but The Original Pancake Kitchen is still a hit with kids & makes the perfect family dining spot. It is also now in THREE different locations across Adelaide. The original Gilbert St restaurant has had little pancake babies (pikelets?) & is now also found in Modbury & now inside the Marion Cultural Centre. Of course, it goes without saying that the pancakes are amazing. There are so many different options to choose from including sweet & savory options in small, regular or tall stacks. If pancakes aren't your thing, you can grab something from the all-day breakfast menu or is you need some meat on your plate, Pancake Kitchens also double as a…
