It’s called The Shores Eatery for a reason! You’ll find this fabulous cafe right on the foreshore at Wallaroo at the end of the Jetty – we think it’s one of the best places to eat on the Yorke Peninsula. Great food, great views, great service and a great welcoming vibe for the kids. Let’s start with that- as soon as we walked in the kids spotted the basket of bubbles and chalk on the counter and were thrilled to be told by the staff that they could help themselves. This bought us a good ten minutes to choose a table (you have a choice of indoor or outdoor dining, all with fantastic views!) and peruse the menu while the kids enthusiastically drew chalk pictures on the ground and waved their bubble wands.

The menu here is huge with a great range of all day brunch options, burgers, fresh local seafood and dishes with an Asian twist. The kids menu is simple yet fun with some faves such as toasties, pancakes (our kids choice), chicken plus bacon and eggs. The drinks list also packs a punch with a massive range of smoothies, milkshakes, juices, hot drinks and a Clare Valley wine list to die for.

Can we take a moment to talk about the names of the dishes on The Shores Eatery menu? We love a bit of creativity and this menu has it in spades. “Who Killed Miss Piggy” was the pulled pork burger I devoured, “Stop Curry’ing On” is – you guessed it- the beef curry, with “We Found Nemo” featuring seafood. There are plenty more where those names came from – just try and keep a straight face while you are ordering!

Service was super quick, the kids had barely had a chance to get back to their chalk when the drinks came out followed by our meals. Everything was pretty as a picture and tasted just as good. In fact, I’m pretty sure little moans were escaping from our mouths as we ate. We’d probably go as far to say that this was the best meal we had during our whole Yorke Peninsula trip!

If you want a grab and go option or feel like dessert, head on inside to check out the front cabinet, stocked full of croissants, rolls, danishes, tarts, muffins and more, including some GF options. There’s something here for everyone.

Don’t go to Wallaroo or dare we say it, the whole of the Copper Coast, without stopping by The Shores Eatery for a fantastic family meal that will leave you full and sated! We’ll be back!

  • Two of our favourite things...The stunning Yorke Peninsula and a craft brewery that welcome families. Enter one of the newest venues on the scene, Hedonbar Brewing Company! Now, we first noticed this talented husband and wife duo brewing up a little storm in 2022, popping up at local events across the Copper Coast. What you might not know is that they have very recently opened a huge new venue for their brewery / taproom and it is conveniently located at the Copper Coast Tourism Centre 's 'Farm Shed' in Kadina (a nudge over an hour and a half from Adelaide). Open Friday's 2pm - 7.30pm and Saturday + Sunday's 12pm - 6.30pm. Our favourite family pick is Sunday's for the live music each week. It's worth noting that hours might vary during peak times or across public holidays, so now is a great time to jump over and follow them on Instagram to keep up to date with special events or altered trading. The venue is industrial, relaxed and spacious with a choice to sit indoors or park up at an outdoor table in fine weather. Either way there is plenty of room to maneuver a pram, and if the…
