This 2024 built nature playground out at West Lakes is a well crafted suburban size play space, with swings, a small fort and slide, plus an array of nature equipment for climbing and balancing.
Plenty of natural shade has transformed this previously barren reserve into a beautiful space for local families.
No toilets but you will find a seated shade spot to watch the kids run around and get some sun!
Find it at: Corner Cedar Avenue and Croydon Avenue, West Croydon Renamed after local legend Eileen Harris, and with an upgrade in 2024 this shaded playground is fabulous for the under 10s. Spacious and with plenty of quality equipment for the kids to climb and challenge themselves on, it also features shade sails and natural shade from surrounding trees. No toilets or BBQs at this one, but definitely a quality suburban playground.
Nangawooka is a small 5 acre reserve on the main Victor Harbor road not far from McCracken Golf Club. (corner of Waterport Road and Adelaide-Victor Harbor Rd) It's a beautiful place for a walk with many varieties of native plants, trees and flowers as well as over 60 species of birds including a large population of Blue Wrens. You might even spot a few lizards, insects and even an echidna or two! There are nesting boxes among the trees and a bird hide in the centre of the reserve which is wheelchair accessible and has multi-level viewing ports for bird watching and photos. The area is accessed by well-defined winding pathways through the plantings, which are very easily walked. The main paths are wheelchair friendly and the scented garden area has paved pathways. There are seats dotted around the place as well as a gazebo for a picnic lunch and onsite, accessible toilet. First thing you notice when you pull up to this reserve is the brightly coloured modern play equipment along with the huge grassed area. Whilst the play equipment isn’t huge it has been well thought out to cater for a few different ages. The toddlers and smaller children can enjoy the swings which include a baby swing, slippery dip, bouncy ladybird and small climbing wall. The bigger kids can use the giant climbing spider web that sits a little away from the the play equipment or even enjoy a game of noughts and crosses which can be found on the play equipment. Once everyone has had enough of the equipment there is plenty of grassed area to run around on, kick balls or just enjoy a family picnic . There is also a tennis court as part of the Golflands reserve. Whilst the area near the play equipment has a fence the entire reserve isn’t totally fenced off. Unfortunately there is no shade over the play equipment but several trees you could utilise to sit under for shade if you stopped for a picnic or BBQ . In need of a coffee .. closest would be Mc Café on…
