Agatha’s Food Store, Port Noarlunga

Family Friendly Eats, Fleurieu Peninsula for Kids, South

Agatha’s Food Store has been a part of the Port Noarlunga cafe community for as long as we can remember – we remember going there as kids and now we are taking our own kids there for their delicious, family friendly drinks and food menu! You’ll find Agatha’s on the corner in Port Noarlunga, opposite the pub – just a short walk to the Port Noarlunga Beach and Jetty and only a stone’s throw from the Jubilee Playground just over the bridge. It’s right on the doorstep of the Onkaparinga River mouth, so is perfect for breakfast, lunch or a coffee and treat while you are having a day trip down south.

Enough about the location – onto the food! The menu is simply HUGE, with tons of options for both breakfast, lunch and drinks. There is also a delectable range of macarons, cakes, slices, biscuits and more to go with your coffee, or to takeaway for later.

We are big fans of the kids menu. There are options for kids who like to keep it simple and also options for kids who are a bit more adventurous. On our most recent visit, our kids went for the waffles with ice cream and strawberries (and devoured the lot!) however on past visits the fairy bread with fruit has been the winner (cause it’s all about balance, right?!). There is also the option of sweet or savoury bagels, scrambled eggs or a croissant. All kids meals come with a milkshake or a juice, all for $12. Perfect! (The kids also loved that the kids menu is for Under 12s or Over 80’s – so sweet!)

For the adults, the options are huge – good luck choosing! You can go for a more traditional breakfast with bacon, eggs, toast and a bunch of sides, or go a bit fancy with an option like the cheesecake waffles. You’ll also find a breaky wrap, bruschetta, bean bowl and HEAPS more. The lunch menu is equally as big with a range of burgers, salads and more.

If choosing your meal isn’t hard enough, you also have a tough decision on your hands with beverages! Pick from coffee, wine, beer, smoothies, juices, mocktails, even breakfast shots! We tried the special hot chocolate from their current Winter Warmer menu and OH.MY.GOD. It was a meal in itself! Before leaving we ordered some smoothies and mocktails for the kids which were delicious, refreshing and very Insta-worthy!

You can sit outside on high or low tables on a nice day, or sit inside – it’s table service throughout so no need to worry about leaving the kids alone at the table while you order. Agatha’s is FULL of gorgeous art and murals that will keep the kids entranced.

We have never had a bad experience at Agatha’s – the service is quick and friendly with all of the staff living and breathing their #choosetobenice motto that adorns the wall. Keep and eye on their socials, as they also open for dinners throughout the year AND do ready made meals to make life a bit easier. Fab!

Agatha’s Food Store, you have had our heart (and our tummies) from the very start and we think you just keep getting better with age! Make it your next family meal out or catch up with friends when you are in the southern suburbs!

  • Find it at: Hay Flat Rd Torrens Vale. Attention adventurers! Rug up in your nature play onesie’s and take the family to explore some secret Adelaide awesomeness! Not far from the epic Ingalla Falls (these are amazing after a decent rain) is this magical place called Barton's Forest Ruins on Hay Flat Road at Torrens Vale....which looks just like a magical slice of Narnia plucked from the books and dropped down the Fleurieu. There isn't any signage which makes it easy to drive straight past. Located a short 300m walk down a steep fire track from gate BA1 on Hay Flat Road. The cottage was occupied by members of the Putland family for many years until the land was sold to the South Australian government by Jessie Barton (nee’ Putland) in 1975. It’s a pram friendly short walk to the ruins but there are some spikey plants located in the ruins so just be cautious of that, and it is close to the waterfalls, so double up with that walk (also 98% pram friendly..the pram takes you right near the falls) Check out the fabulous Ingalla Falls (and other waterfalls to explore in Adelaide) here. • To the rest of Australia, beautiful beaches probably isn't the first thing that springs to mind when you think about South Australia BUT we know something they don't know. When it comes to blue water, white sand, rockpools, reefs and gentle waves - S.A's got the goods. Not all beaches are the same when it comes to family friendly though. They've got to have gentle waves, no strong sweeps or currents, they have to be easy to get to (and lug your massive beach bag full of ALL the things to) Please remember to keep a close eye on your kids at the beach, swim between the flags where possible and always slip, slop, slap and wrap.
