I nearly bought a house opposite this reserve three years ago – I wish I did because this new playground is AWESOME with a capital A. It oozes imagination, creativity and huge spaces for sports play. I think it will be one of my new favourites in the west!
Firstly, lets highlight that this playground is an inclusive play space – HUGE kudos so that all abilities can enjoy with custom designed equipment by Willplay, their first wheelchair accessible play space.

Find it at: Brooklyn Drive, Hallett Cove The Brooklyn Drive Reserve playground is open and after rigorous testing by a KiA crew, it has been given the tick of approval. Not a huge space, but a great spot for locals, this timber themed playground has enough to keep most ages entertained while you take 5 during your probably hectic schedule! There is a swing (plus a toddler swing), as well as monkey bars (to be fair they are fairly low hanging so taller squids may drag their feet a tad) and a climbing tower with slide. Not bad! Chuck in some unique features like 4-square handball court and capture the flag instructions and a mud kitchen! For the parents, there are no toilets but there is a shaded seating area. No shade over the equipment either so it may get pretty hot as there aren't many trees either. Stuck for a bite to eat after your play? We highly recommend the nearby Cafe Rimini at Hallett Cove. Check out all the info here.
Find it at: Brooker Terrace, Hilton West Torrens Memorial Gardens are one of the city's beautiful green spaces and are situated off Brooker Terrace next to the Cowandilla (Hamra) Library, and featured a great upgrade in 2018.There are heaps of climbing and swinging options for those with little people who love to climb as much as ours do! We love the unique bridge which links the two sides of the playspace, allowing visitors to walk underneath. Very cool. We love water play and we are looked after here with a water play area and a large sandpit - yay! There are lots of different and interesting climbing options from the well loved spider's web (above), to these dual abseiling /climbing ropes alongside the slide (below)There is also plenty of green space in the West Torrens Memorial Gardens, with lots of established trees for shade. SPINNERS! The toilets are open during library hours, and there is a water fountain/bottle refill station. There are lots of shade trees, but much of the playground equipment isn't under shade cover. Parking is along Brooker Terrace, at the library or street side nearby. Current library/toilet hours are: Sunday1:00pm - 4:00pmMonday10:00am - 6:00pmTuesday10:00am - 6:00pmWednesday8:00am - 6:00pmThursday10:00am - 8:00pmFriday10:00am -…
Find it at: The Parade & West Terrace, Kensington Gardens Hidden away in the inner Eastern suburbs is this the awesome Burnside Adventure Playground. Despite being a multi-award winning park and just off The Parade, I've been surprised to find how many locals don't even know about this place with things to do for families of all ages and interests! It s a firm fave for us and our two boys under 5, plus our friends with toddlers and others with 6 & 8 year old! There is an entrance to a small carpark from The Parade just past the tennis courts (see map below), but on a nice weekend it can get busy. Plenty of additional on street parking can be found within 40m walk to the main playground on West Terrace. The main playground on the western side of the resserve has plenty for kids from 18months to 7 years or so, including 2 great flying fox (one seated one for all abilities and ages). It also has a few swings, slide, climbing frame and a great rubber softfall area and bike/scooter path. Take a short walk past the facilities block and car park, note the beautiful old…
