April School Holiday Programs in Adelaide

Big Brains Tiny Hands™ Kids & Teens Holiday Classes at Urth Clay Studio

Big Brain Tiny Hands is Urth Clay Studio’s one-off pottery classes prioritize experimentation and muddy fun over seeking perfection.

Unlike traditional approaches, we encourage kids to freely explore shapes and textures, fostering a sense of joy in the creative process while introducing a step to step guidnes sometimes to teach how to create a strong piece, The therapeutic experience of working with clay provides a meditative environment for kids to de-stress and express themselves artistically. With hands-on, tactile engagement, our classes offer a break from screens, allowing children to immerse themselves in the sensory pleasure of clay.

Expert guidance, rather than strict rules, empowers kids to bring their unique visions to life, creating an atmosphere of liberating creativity. Join us for a memorable, screen-free experience that celebrates the joy of pottery and inspires the young artist in every child.

Whether you’re visiting for the day or settling in for an overnight stay, you can expect memorable screen-free fun for the whole family… just 10 minutes up the South Eastern freeway on a 54-hectare nature wonderland at Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills. Woodhouse is open every day, even public holidays!

Take the day pass option for unlimited access to the site from 9am to 5pm where you will climb, crawl, swing and splash your way through more than 30 obstacles on Challenge Hill, tackle a giant split-level maze, slide down two epic Tube Slides (running weekends and public holidays except Good Friday and Christmas Day), conquer the ultimate multi-dimensional outdoor bouldering challenge, negotiate an orienteering or photo hunt course, or have a round of disc golf (think golf with a frisbee).

For even more fun, pitch your tent (or pull up your van) at one of the unpowered sites (no minimum number of nights even on long weekends) or stay in one of the glamping bell tents or family chalets with all day activities included from 9am on your day of arrival to 5pm on your day of departure.

Woodhouse also has fully-facilitated ‘Drop and Go’ day camps in the school holidays from 9am (drop-off from 8:30am) to 5pm with thoughtfully programmed adventures specifically designed with age-appropriate activities guaranteed to keep primary school kids aged 5 to 12 screen-free, active and entertained for the whole day. Sensory friendly evening at the South Australian Museum

5 – 7pm |  24 April

A quiet, sensory friendly evening for visitors of all ages, their families, friends, and support workers.

Visitors with sensory and/or accessibility needs can enjoy a quieter, less crowded visit to the Museum out of hours. This is a chance to see all the permanent galleries, the latest exhibitions, and maybe discover something you’ve never noticed before.

While everyone is always welcome at the Museum, sometimes the crowds and noise make visits harder for our neurodivergent visitors and those living with a disability. Some of the screens, lights and sounds around the Museum will be altered for the evening to make it a more sensory friendly experience.

Attendees can enjoy the Museum’s galleries and exhibitions and sensory backpacks will be available to borrow free of charge.

This is a ticketed event for people with sensory and/or accessibility needs and their accompanying family, friends, and support workers. Please purchase a ticket for all attendees when you book, as numbers are limited to ensure a quiet environment.

The Shadow Initiation is an adventure game that is facilitated by a tablet and can be played by up to 4 people per tablet. While this activity is designed for a broad audience, it supports student learning and aligns with the Australian Curriculum in the areas of developing critical and creative thinking skills and building personal and social capability. It is recommended for students from year 7 to work independently, and for students in years 5 and 6 with supervision
