City of Charles Sturt FREE School Holiday Sports Program

The City of Charles Sturt School Holiday Sports program is back these April school holidays, running from Friday 10 April to Sunday 26 April 2026, with a huge range of FREE sport and recreation activities for kids aged 3–17 across the City of Charles Sturt.

Designed to get kids active, trying new things and making friends, the program is a fantastic way to build confidence while learning about healthy lifestyles through sport. With almost 2,500 children participating last year, it’s clearly a favourite for local families. Kids can try activities like badminton, baseball and T-ball, gymnastics, hockey, karate, lawn bowls, tennis, indoor soccer and more. Build a Bear at District Outlet Centre

$5 Build-A-Bear workshops are back at District Outlet Centre these school holidays!

Kids can create their very own furry friend, complete with a special heart ceremony, games and colouring fun. Each child receives a pre-stuffed bear to take home, with the option to dress it up (clothing and accessories available for purchase). It’s a sweet, hands-on experience that’s all about creativity, imagination and a whole lot of cuddles.

All aboard for a memorable school holiday adventure with SteamRanger Heritage Railway

Hop on one of the special SteamRanger “Highlander” trains running on select days these holidays between Mount Barker and the charming riverside town of Strathalbyn.

April 12, 17, 24 & 26

Just 30 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, this scenic journey through the Adelaide Hills is packed with countryside views, rolling farmland, and plenty of native and farm animals to spot along the way.

Choose from a morning or afternoon departure, making it easy to plan a relaxed return trip or a full day out exploring beautiful Strathalbyn.

Travellers on the Friday services (17th & 24th)  kids will love the FREE Children’s Activity Trail Packs waiting on arrival in Strathalbyn, adding an extra layer of fun to the day.

While heritage carriages aren’t currently in operation, families will travel in comfort aboard a “cool” air-conditioned train, still hauled by one of SteamRanger’s iconic heritage diesel locomotives. (Steam ban still in place in Adelaide Hills)

The City of Charles Sturt School Holiday Sports program is back these April school holidays, running from Friday 10 April to Sunday 26 April 2026, with a huge range of FREE sport and recreation activities for kids aged 3–17 across the City of Charles Sturt.

Designed to get kids active, trying new things and making friends, the program is a fantastic way to build confidence while learning about healthy lifestyles through sport. With almost 2,500 children participating last year, it’s clearly a favourite for local families. Kids can try activities like badminton, baseball and T-ball, gymnastics, hockey, karate, lawn bowls, tennis, indoor soccer and more. There are also inclusive options such as sensory-friendly roller skating, wheelchair-accessible table tennis, and tennis sessions welcoming participants with disability, ensuring everyone can get involved and have fun.
