If you’re looking for a family getaway that has something for everyone, BIG4 The Bend Holiday Park in South Australia’s Murraylands should be at the top of your list. Whether you’re after adventure, relaxation, or just some good old-fashioned family fun, this park has it all – and then some.
The Bend is more than just a place to stay – it’s a destination in itself. Kids will have endless energy to burn with a huge swimming pool, jumping pillow, playground, games room, basketball hoop, mini golf course, pickle ball nets, a games room with table tennis, air hockey and arcade games and even a dirt BMX track where you can bring your bikes for some off-road action. Add in a fire pit for toasting marshmallows under the stars, and you’ve got the perfect mix of adventure and downtime.
One of the best things about BIG4 The Bend is the variety of accommodation options to suit different families and budgets. Choose from:
Spacious cabins (1 or 3 bedrooms) that are modern, fully self-contained, and come with everything you need – including linen, towels, and a kitchen for easy family meals.
Campsites with a well-equipped camp kitchen for the classic holiday park experience.
Powered, unpowered and ensuite sites for caravans and campers.
Dorm-style accommodation, perfect for larger groups, schools, or race teams.
We loved our three-bedroom cabin – modern, comfortable, and set up perfectly for families. With a king-sized bed, queen bed, and four bunk beds, there was room for everyone to sleep soundly after big days of fun. And being able to cook a bacon-and-eggs breakfast in the morning made it feel like a home away from home.
BIG4 The Bend sits alongside the famous Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, so if you’ve got motorsport fans in the family, you’ll want to check out what’s on while you’re there.
Parents will love the balance of relaxation and entertainment, while kids will simply think it’s the best holiday ever. Whether you want to fill your days with activities or just let the kids roam and play while you unwind, The Bend makes family holidays easy and fun.
The Bend is only a short drive from Adelaide, making it perfect for a weekend away or a longer family holiday. With so many activities on-site and comfortable accommodation options, you won’t even need to leave the park – though the Murraylands region is well worth exploring too.

Is it worth driving an hour out of Adelaide for a really cool retro photo of your kids?Erm heck yes if they come out as cool as these ones did! Just past Murray Bridge, about 90kms from the CBD you'll find Old Tailem Town Pioneer Village. Opened to the public back in 1987 it's Australia's largest Pioneer Village and is a fun little spot to spend a couple of hours and show the kids what life was like for settlers of SA from 1860 - 1960. There are over 100 buildings to explore, lots of cool cars, trucks and tractors, themed displays and a few (little bit scary??) life like costumed mannequins to really set the vibe. Sure, the place gets quite a mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and Facebook BUT our advice is to visit with no expectations and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. It's a really quirky, hands on, up close experience and if you're into history you'll love wandering around for a few hours. It's not all hidden away behind glass which is pretty rare these days. Grab a map when you arrive, or just wing it and make your own adventure. Our highlights and tips. The…
