Find it at: Esplanade, Brighton

The Holdfast Bay Council has really spoilt the Adelaide community with some great upgrades to the local parks and here is another one we just love.

Bindarra Reserve was already a great playground and is always busy and with a fabulous new upgrade will now be even busier.  With a lovely seaside theme this new play space has come at a perfect time with summer school holidays as it directly opposite Brighton Beach.

The playground now features a few different areas. The main equipment play space has been thought out really well and caters for a few different ages. It features lots of rope climbing obstacles , balancing rope stairs, swinging monkey bars and a slippery dip. Set amongst this area is lots of games for the kids to use including hand eye coordination activities that are great for the little ones. Also allows for imaginative play. Love how all the pieces work together and keeps the kids close regardless of what activity they are doing. Whether they are being active or just standing playing with a game.

Just to the side of the main play equipment is a group of swings including a baby swing .Not far away is a lovely area with pram or wheel chair access where kids can go have some quiet time and utilise the chalk boards positioned at the top of the ramp. I love how this area allows everybody to play together regardless of ability or age as everyone can access. The playground also features some bouncy animals for the toddlers.

Parking is close by on the surrounding streets but can get congested if there is other activities on in Brighton too. There are toilets right next to the playground, along with BBQ area and picnic tables. The play space is shaded and we love that the council have now added a fence around the reserve. Another fabulous upgrade well done Holdfast Bay Council.

Where? Corner of Bindarra Road & Esplanade, Brighton

Things to know:

– The Esplanade has a pedestrian crossing to allow you to cross safely, but be aware that not all cars will have responsible drivers and some do go a bit fast. As the park is fenced, but not gated, keep an eye out.

– There are heaps of cafe’s and shops just a moment away on Jetty Road

– Brighton beach is just across the road, and its calm, flat waters make it the perfect place to hang out after the playground

  • Find it at: Kooralla Grove, Kidman Park What a great little park this one is. With a fantastic range of play equipment, including some reasonably challenging climbing equipment to a playground with an enclosed twirly slide, this has something for most ages. It even has a heap of outdoor gym equipment but lets be honest, apart from sitting on the ski swingy one, nobody has ever used any of it....or is that just us? No toilets is the only let down here, but it has a BBQ, seating, a mix of toddler and traditional swings, several slides and is a really beautiful spot. There is no fencing but the river is about 100m away and it is in a nice quiet back street so you shouldn't have many issues.

  • Find it at: George Street, Marion The City of Marion have opened up yet another fabulous playground (they are really setting the standard aren't they), this time a spacious playground at George Street. With an in-ground trampoline, swing, sandpit, water pump and 2 historical-themed cubby houses, including a village store and a workers cottage, this one is really cool. There’s also a miniature fire pole, slide and logs to jump on and an upgraded 3-on-3 basketball and netball court. There's plenty of space (the oval and footy goals are just fantastic) for your doggo to run around, as well as a sheltered BBQ area. Oh and did we mention there are toilets? Because there are! We really enjoyed this one and there was plenty for our older boys to climb and swing around on, whilst also offering enough to keep the young ones entertained.
