Easter is all about food, right? (Well, in our house anyway!) So it’s perfect timing that Masterchef is back on Network Ten this Easter Monday, 18th April at 7:30pm. And how lucky are we? One of this years contestants, Steph Woon has created an Easter Brownies Recipe, just for all of our Kids In Adelaide followers!
If you need a dessert to take to your family Easter catch up, something to take with you on a school holiday outing, or you just want to do some cooking with the kids over the long weekend, this is the perfect recipe for you!
Here’s the recipe:
STEPH WOON’S MASTERCHEF EASTER EGG BROWNIES
Ingredients:
200g 70% Dark Chocolate
150g Unsalted Butter
3 Egg
225g Brown Sugar
1tsp Vanilla Extract
60g Plain Flour
30g Dutch-processed Cocoa Powder
½ tsp Baking Powder
Pinch of salt
Approx. 20 mini Easter Eggs
Steps:
Preheat oven to 160 degrees (fan forced)
Line a 8”x 8” tin with baking paper
For the brownie, melt the butter and chocolate in a microwave at 30 second increments until combined.
Whisk the eggs with the brown sugar until pale with a hand mixer (or stand mixer if you have one) then add in the vanilla extract and melted chocolate.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt.
Sift the dry ingredients onto the chocolate batter and fold until well incorporated.
Pour batter into prepared tin and spread evenly.
Gently push the chocolate easter eggs into the batter.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 160 degrees.
Leave the brownie in the tin for 10 minutes before removing from tin. Let the brownie completely cool before serving.

These are a great little Easter treat that the whole family can join in on making. So fun and easy and YUMMY! Thanks to Jess from Cook n Create for this great Easter idea. Ingredients 200g chocolate broken into pieces (TIP: You can always mix chocolates to make up the 200g)85g Shredded wheat (You can also use Cornflakes, Rice crispies, Weetbix etc – Whatever cereals you have just make sure they are crushed)2 x 100g bags of mini eggs Method Melt the chocolate in a small glass bowl placed over a saucepan of barely simmering water (Do it slowly – Believe it or not chocolate burns really easily!)In another bowl crush the cerealPour the chocolate over the crushed cereal and mix thoroughly (A metal spoon is easiest)Spoon the mixture into the 12 cupcake cases (Use a cupcake tin if you can to keep the shape)Use the back of a metal teaspoon to firmly press the mixture into the cases. Make a little dip in each nest for the eggs to sit.Place ¾ mini eggs in each nest and chill in the fridge for an hour or so. ENJOY!
If for some unknown, inexplainable, bizarre reason you have leftover Easter Eggs to use up, Jess from Cook n Create Adelaide has sent us through a few delicious ways to repurpose those eggs into other chocolately and delicious treats. Easter Egg Chocolate Brownies Ingredients 250g unsalted butter300g chocolate (We like to mix it up so 100g Dark chocolate and 200g milk but really whatever you have is perfect!). Break the chocolate into small chunks/squares.140g plain flour50g cocoa powder4 large eggs400g golden caster sugar6 Crème eggs cut in half (Caramel eggs also work amazingly well!) Method Preheat the oven to 160c and grease or line (We prefer to line it with baking paper) a 20cm x 30cm baking tinMelt the butter, sugar and chocolate together in a glass bowl over simmering water. Keep stirring. When it’s all melted and the sugar no longer feels ‘grainy’ remove from the heat (you can check this by pressing the back of a metal spoon against the side of the bowl and feeling the grain).
