Pizza? Check! Wine? Check! Space for the kids to run and play? Check! Stunning gardens straight out of a fairytale? Check! Mums and Dads, Lazy Ballerina is your ultimate lunch spot nestled between the Fleurieu Peninsula and the Adelaide Hills.

As soon as you walk up the path to enter Lazy Ballerina, you will know you have found somewhere special. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and it is well worth visiting a few times a year to see how they change with the seasons. The best way to experience Lazy Ballerina is to book in for their “Let Us Feed You” menu – they will bring out platters full of local produce followed by delicious wood oven pizzas. It’s just $45 per head for adults, $12 for under 7’s and $20 for under 15’s. Their attentive and friendly staff will just keep bringing pizzas until you tell them to stop! If you’re not full from all the pizza, you can purchase dessert and of course, you must indulge in a few glasses of Lazy Ballerina’s finest!

After our most recent visit, we have some new favourite pizzas – the pear and blue cheese pizza is to die for and the sweet potato pizza hits all the right spots.

The kids will be in heaven with the gardens to explore, a bocce area and a huge paddock with a swinging rope, cubby and balls. Don’t worry if the weather isn’t looking the best, in winter they can seat you undercover or in one of the clear marquees and the cellar door has a range of games and toys to keep the kids amused. There is a change table in the bathrooms and high chairs available. On cool days, the firepits scattered across the yard will keep you cosy and warm. This place really does have it all!

Lazy Ballerina book out nearly every weekend, so we recommend booking in advance, which you can do via their website. James, Miriam and their family are the perfect hosts and make you feel so welcome. We also found out that Lazy Ballerina has an AirBnB on site, which would be such a great place to stay. Take a look at the guesthouse here. We’ll be booking in a weekend soon!
