If you are like us, then the first thing you do when you arrive at a small town for a regional retreat is work out the best place for coffee and food. Edithburgh is a small little place, which is part of the charm just quietly, but they are lucky enough to have a fantastic little cafe which is just lovely.
Located in the heart of Edithburgh (you can’t miss it on your morning walk), you can take your pick from a large under cover area, indoor seating or even out on the grass if the weather is nice enough. Full of coastal town charm, the friendly staff will have you covered for a good quality meal at very budget friendly prices. Plenty on the menu too for the kids, so even the fussiest little eaters will be looked after.
We really liked our brunch here, finding it a really relaxing environment to enjoy a good quality meal, with our little mate having a lot of room to explore after he smashed down his breakfast.
Open Wednesday til Sunday, from 9am til 8pm, this will sort of become the one stop shop for your morning coffee and family meals during your Edithburgh stay.
We love finding a little hidden gem and that's exactly what The Essence Cafe is. Located in beautiful Stirling (Adelaide Hills) The Essence Cafe is tucked away behind the main road with indoor and outdoor seating available, and plenty of car parking nearby. There's also room for prams and high chairs and it's a popular spot for families to grab a coffee and a treat or go all out with a delicious breakfast or lunch. The menu has all your favourite breakfast options. Smashed avo, bacon and eggs, waffles, granola, croissants and more. If you want my tip, get the smashed avo and halloumi - it was divine.Kids can grab a toasty, banana bread or we loved their kids grazing plate with fruit, carrot, corn chips, tomatoes and sultanas. The perfect size to keep those little mouths and hands busy while you try and enjoy your own food (well that's the plan anyway). There are also more substantial kids options like burgers and a kids bacon and egg breakfast if tummies are hungry.Lunch you can grab a one of their yummy looking salad, burrito or nachos bowls, a burger and plenty of baguette and wrap options. We also treated our…
We may have just found Adelaide's most charming, family friendly spot to eat, that caters to both parents and kids. White Picket Coffee House, on the Eastern city fringe, serves up some brilliant kid-friendly menu options in a spacious setting with a choice of indoor tables, enclosed verandah tables, or our favourite, the rear courtyard/ garden setting complete with a sweet little cottage style cubby house! I think the fact that the rear courtyard had every table filled while we were there really shows how much of a winner this place is! The coffee here is top-notch. Each cup is brewed to perfection using quality beans, leaving you with that rich and satisfying taste we all crave. Plus, their breakfast, brunch, and lunch options are to die for! With initiatives like "Pasta Fridays", it's the perfect way to end the week. On top of that, their ready-made meals to collect for dinner or work lunches are a godsend, making busy weekdays a breeze. Parents, you'll be thrilled to know that they've got your little ones covered too. The kids' hot chocolates are made to perfection - just the right temperature to keep those tiny taste buds happy. And speaking of…
Green Monkeys is a Portlife Church volunteer run Community Play Café where, for a gold coin donation, you can bring your pre-school age kids along to play on their awesome 2 storey, indoor, netted playground. Open Mondays and Thursdays during the school term from 9:30am - 11:30am, the Green Monkeys program operates similarly to a playgroup. They love to support parents in our community by making a safe place to hang out and drink some delicious coffee while your kids play. Designed to suit children under the age of 6, the playground features two slides, a tunnel, a helicopter cockpit, spinners, punching bags, a swing and more. A toddler play mat and toys are also available for younger kids. Parents do need to bring socks for their children to utilise the play equipment, however they have some available for purchase if needed. Barista made coffee and light snacks are also available for purchase in the cafe at very reasonable prices.
