With an upgrade in late 2024, Newtown Park is one of our favourites on the Yorke Peninsula with space to please the whole family.

Adding on a large (or should I say tall!) addition, anyone who loves a slide will love this park.

  • Accesible public toilets
  • New playground
  • Open grassed area with cricket pitch for ball sports and picnics
  • Large bike track, perfect for all ages and stages
  • Half basketball court
  • Street parking
  • Covered tables and BBQ facilities

Whilst it is not fully fenced in, it is located in the backstreets of Kadina, helping to make it a quieter spot with less traffic.

There’s so much to entertain the kids here that it makes the perfect spot to bring a ball, your bikes and a picnic spread to spend an afternoon.

  • We love a winery that welcomes families and kids. Yorke Peninsula is known for a lot of things, beaches, fishing, summer holidays, Innes National Park.... and honestly? Traditionally wine has never really featured in this region, but stay with us because #worthit - this place is a cracker! It especially gets a high recommend from us, no matter where you are on Yorkes, if the weather turns ordinary - it's a great place to take shelter for an arvo. We know you guys love a surprise package and we know you love a family friendly venue. Barley Stacks Winery is both of those things and it is also the first commercial vineyard and winery to be established on the traditional barley belt of the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. Throw in a few awards including a current 2021 Yorke Peninsula Tourism Winner, a title this venue is no stranger to, and you have a fantastic place. The huge casual cellar door has a gorgeous rustic farm / barrel shed feel to it, and was made cosy on our cool Spring day visit with heaters. We knocked back a lovely cheese platter and some house made pizzas with the kids, indulged in…

  • We recently did a huge 11 night trip to the Yorke Peninsula with the kids in tow - fantastic trip, but by the time we got to our second to last stop, we were running a bit low on the food we had packed when we left home and who has time for supermarket shopping on holiday? Enter, Grazing Yorkes! We got in touch with Emily and ordered a cheese platter box and a breakfast box and she delivered them direct to our accommodation so once we checked in, we could settle back with a drink and graze the afternoon away! How convenient and a little bit special too, which is what you want when you are having a weekend away right? It's such a dream, you can order these and have them delivered any where around the Copper Coast (small delivery fee may apply depending exactly where you want the boxes to show up - but Moonta, Wallaroo & Kadina are free!) The grazing box included several cheeses, crackers, dips, strawberries, cured meats and more. We loved it, the kids loved it and there was PLENTY - so much that we had enough for sunset nibbles the next night…

  • Waking up to a giant black-and-white cow waiting at the fence while you sip your morning cuppa might not be everyone’s idea of a dream holiday.... but for us, it was pretty perfect. Redwing Farm, owned and run by Nicola and Damien Adams, is a 460-acre working property just outside Moonta on the stunning Yorke Peninsula. If you're after a getaway that’s wholesome, hands-on, and full of fresh air and animal encounters, this place is well worth a spot on your list. Where To Stay We stayed in The Barn, one of four unique accommodation options on the farm. The others include Florence the Bus (aka Flo), which is every bit as stylish as you’d hope, and the cosy Shearers Quarters. Little Patty, a renovated 1950s caravan that’s utterly charming and budget-friendly, is unfortunately out of action at the moment but we hope to see her back soon! With four very different spots available (usually!), Redwing Farm is perfect for larger groups or extended families who want to stay close but still enjoy their own space. It’s a popular pick during school holidays, so if you're planning a visit, we’d recommend booking early to avoid missing out. Redwing isn’t just…
